Nothing Was $1 At This Dollar Tree

Hadn't been to a Dollar Tree in a couple of years. Used to make it a point to go there regularly. Was exciting to get everything for $1 each and some pretty good products too. Had seen the news over time that prices were going up. Yesterday, I went to one. I could see from some signs what the prices were like, so I was prepared. I was still disappointed when my receipt did not show a single $1 item. I bought:

6 = $1.50
12 = $1.25
1 = $3.00
1 = $5.00

I had lost my desire to shop regularly at Dollar Tree long ago. With the prices going up, I could get what I wanted at Wmart. I dropped by this one yesterday because it was convenient. I only needed a few things and it saved me from the Wmart crowd. As some would say, the prices are still affordable, so what are you griping about? It's just that everything being $1 is a much missed novelty.

With the $1 price point gone, there's no reason for me to sidetrack and go there anymore, except in a pinch.

The fun used to be not having to think. Everything was a dollar.
Now I need reading glasses, a calculator, and the receipt just to figure out what happened.

Sometimes I still go in just for sightseeing. Admission is FREE. Ride tickets not required.

So right! If you're low on funds on a shopping day it wouldn't be a comfortable, mindless excursion. You'd have to think more. 😄

It's exactly the same here with the £1 shops ...''Poundland'' ''Poundstretcher''... hardl anything is a pound... some stock is actually more than £10......I can't see them lasting too much longer.

What's the point if everything we can get in the pound shop we can get in other stores for thesame price they're charging now.. and also loads of low budget online stores...

Yep. It's like the Walmarts in the US. They have everything a person could want, even groceries. And more variety and better quality on most things. It used to be worth it to stop at Dollar Tree first then on to Walmart. Not anymore. Just another lamentable change in our world, one of the changes that will never revert. 😞

I still start at the local Dollar Tree when I need some small household gadget.

Greeting cards, gift wrap, party supplies, and holiday related items are still a good value for me.

Food items are a bit tricky and often I can get better value in the local supermarket.

Canned soups, cookies, and pouches of baking mix are still a good value.

I also tend to welcome the small sizes of snacks, chips, and candy even if they are a bit overpriced because they help me to limit my consumption. 🐷🐷🐷

Is everything at Five Below $5? I've heard of the store and seen some but never shopped there.
Heck, no. Lots of stuff over $5.

I used to enjoy taking the Littles to Dollar Tree. I'd tell them they could have 3 items each or 5 or whatever. It would take them a good hour to pick.

It was also a good lesson in economics....are the three small balls for a dollar a better deal than the two larger balls for the same price? They'd be swapping stuff out forever as they'd find something they liked better. I always made them take stuff back to the original spot. It was a regular field trip.
