November 11th
When he was little….he’d dress all in green…
His father’s old uniform, so proud to be seen…
His weapon a stick, from a branch of the tree…
He stood steadfast a defender of all who were free….
Years have passed, tall and true he has grown…
A faithful young man, determination of stone…
He came again one day all dressed in green..
The proudest young man ever to be seen….
Said I must go to a place far away..
Stand in the gap….keeping evil bay…
So with a salute a hug and a kiss…
Off went that young man that many would miss….
Then he returned dress in green that was new…
Lay in the box, visited by so few….
Placed in a grave at the top of the hill…
The letters home he wrote still give me a chill…
Yes he went far away standing proud and true…
Let us not forget…it’s the least we can do…..
