Now is not the time to get lax with precautions.

Over the last few weeks, Covid has gone up again. The virus has begun spreading across the southern and western U.S., as well as in some other countries. And there’s no real mystery about why. Many people have stopped following public-health guidance. They have gathered in restaurants, bars, churches, gyms and workplaces (sometimes because their employers pressured them to do so).

Apoorva Mandavilli, a science reporter, says of lessening the spread of Covid: “There are ways to be responsible and socialize, but people don’t seem to be able to draw the line between what’s OK and what is not. For too many people, it seems to be binary — they are either on lockdown OR taking no precautions.”

So, here's your PSA. Please y'all, remember: You should wear a mask if you’re going to spend time near anybody who is not part of your household. You should minimize your time in indoor spaces with multiple people. You should move as many activities as possible outdoors. You should wash your hands frequently. And you should stay home, away from even your own family members, if you feel sick.

If you are taking no precautions, if that's your thing, I'm not going to argue with you or try and change your mind. You are completely entitled to your own opinion and choices. But *I* DO take it seriously, so I'm going to continue to do all the above. Thankfully my loved ones all feel the same way.

Sometimes when I see news footage of unmasked people clustering together I cannot help but think of COVID-19 in the role of Dirty Harry.

It's looking like July may see a substantial Spike in the numbers of those with this virus. All these "warm weather" gatherings are going to drive the numbers up, and very soon.
That's one of my main concerns, too.
If it's extreme enough that they decided to cancel the state fair, it's only logical other non-essential gatherings shouldn't be going on, either.

And please, please, please wear the mask correctly. Needs to cover nose, mouth and chin. I see too many with only mouth and chin covered. Mercy!

There is also more testing going on in my state so sure we will show more cases now. There probably has always been a higher amount than the news has reported because less testing was happening.

They also say a lot of people in their 30s are testing positive--a group who seems sometimes to be careless about social distancing and wearing masks, maybe some thinking they are invincible...that is until they turn up positive!

And who is being lax, not me! I wear my mask when I know I'll be around people and I also keep a very healthy distance from everyone when outside. When someone comes to my door I wear a mask and most that come to my door do too.

I don't talk long to those who come to my door. It takes 5 minutes of talking to someone to contract enough of the virus to get sick if no masks are worn.

You are so right Ronni. It may take unfortunate events (death or extreme illness of loved ones) in these peoples' lives (who ignore precautions) to convince them to adhere to the health advisors' recommendations.

some of these people are absolutely vehement about wearing a mask. they get down right nasty and flat out refuse. what bothers me is that some of those people are getting mad at those who are wearing masks.
