If ambient radiation from the Chernobyl nuclear explosion was detected in Europe may or may not be true and if anybody in authority knows they are probably not confirming or denying it.

Collateral damage: The most powerful OTHBR in the world was being powered by the Chernobyl power plant and the explosion damaged it beyond repair. It no longer had the ability to instantly detect ballistic missile launches anywhere in the world.

I worked with a Russian woman who visited that area shortly after the accident. We said maybe she shouldn't go there and her reply was that they said it was fine. The company was bought out shortly after that so I don't know how she fared.
