NYC cuts police budget by 1 billion dollars

What in the budget was cut? It is a huge budget so I would like to know exactly what items were reduced and or eliminated. The person that started the phrase "Defund The Police" should be put on the first plane out of the country. What exactly does it mean? All cities will do it differently.
The element of the population that wanted the police defunded have gotten their wish, now they should be the ones who do without police services. Let’s see how they like it.

Devi, I think the public should not interfere with Law Enforcement. They are quite capable of handling their internal affairs.
What right does a criminal, anarchist or felon have to demean, disrespect, cut their budget or defund their department? None!
Why should they have to publicize their internal actions? Ask 911. He's in Law Enforcement!

Maybe so, though the problem currently is that some in the public have felt they were not treated fairly by the police, and that the police were not correcting the unfairness nor giving any indication that they were going to do so, and that at least some of the unfairness was being covered up by the police.

Mind you, I'm not saying this is true, but it is an issue currently.

(I'm also not at all for defunding the police. It's a bad idea no matter how one looks at it.)

Now I understand why someone invented a 22 cal magnum that has two barrels at every pull of the trigger. Going to be a lot of need for this.

This thing of “Defund the Police” started during the peaceful protests. Once the ‘mob’ (ANTIFA) saw that this was catching on, they ran with it. Then, it turned political. It started with the Minneapolis mob, then New York and Seattle was right on their heels. Minneapolis is going to somehow dismantle their police department and replace it with some type of community leadership patrols.

New York has already voted to cut $1billion from their budget and divert that money to education (not sure what that means), expand the broadband in the projects, give money to youth development programs (sports) and some of the money will also go to mental health aid.

AOC, representative from the Bronx thought that the $1 billion wasn’t enough. I really don’t have any connections with anyone in the NYC police force, but I have spoken with a few of the men with the New York State Police. Right now, their morale is also low and they don’t have a lot of good to say about Cuomo. They also agree with most everyone else that de Blasio needs to go.

The one NY Trooper that I know personally, told me that he spoke with some of the detectives in the city and they plan on retiring as soon as they become eligible, which right now is 20 years. Under the present working conditions. I really can’t blame them. I know that I am biased, but police, like doctors, nurses, even teachers, need support from their superiors. A lack of support lowers not only morale, but also self-esteem. You start thinking to yourself, “Why am I risking my life doing a job when nobody cares and actually wants us to just go away?”
How would you feel if you thought no one cared?

Holy Cow! I never seen this pistol. Pretty cool, really.

I'm not sure what "defund the police" means. I know there have been some "police theories", such a "Broken Windows" where a section of the city get "extra" policing, and any minor infraction is prosecuted in an attempt to prevent crime. These are very costly, controversial programs. Is cutting back on these programs what is meant by "defunding"? Also, in NYC, the police dept. has taken over programs from other agencies, and this defunding is an attempt to put the programs back. I don't know. Until there is something more substantial to examine other than a catch phrase. I'll comment when there's something concrete.

Coming from a state where we successfully compete to see which state has the most politicians in jail, I believe the police force should be as transparent as possible, and even more tomorrow.
