NYC has had to hire a Rat Czar to help deal with their rat problem.

Cats like to hunt mice, but aren't very effective against rats.

Anyway, I hope the rat czar and her henchpeople find a solution!

Big city. I suppose rats and roaches will be around. The rats are just trying to make a living but I can imagine, it's out of hand.

I lived in New York City (Manhattan & Brooklyn) for 15 years in the 70's & 80's. We just ignored them. You saw them in the subway tunnels and around trash cans, if there was some trash that wasn't in metal trash cans.

Rats are looking for food and take advantage of human messiness. Humans are the problem, rats are just a symptom.

Any large city with lots of old tunnels, unused sewers, and rivers has a rat problem. London has about 7.5 million rats. Rome has a bad rat problem, in fact the Rome rat is enormous, too.

I would hate to be living there...well I wouldn't want to live in NYC anyway but those conditions make it even less appealing. I used to take the subway when I studied at Jazzmobile. A co-worker friend hipped me to taking the bus instead. It's been decades since I used the subway and would never use it now.
