While the mainstream media has promoted the idea of racist police unjustly targeting black people, official crime statistics revealed that's nothing more than a myth. One America's Pearson Sharp breaks down the numbers.
What State has the similar size population??You do have to wonder why Texas kills way more of their suspects, than states with similar sized populations.
You have to factor in somewhere the fact that black people (12 percent of the population) commit 50 percent of the violent crimes. That leads to more encounters with the police and more deaths as a percentage of the total population.I haven't watched them yet, but since the black population in the US is about 12% and the white population is about 60% (including white Hispanics) if we were looking for pattern of similar behavior towards whites there would be five times as many whites as black shot by police rather than just twice as many. So a very simple and likely inaccurate assessment would be that blacks are shot and killed by police at 2.5 times more per capita than whites.
Earlier this week the Washington Post ran an op-ed suggesting that cop and detective shows be banned because they glamorize the police. The New York Times fired its op-ed editor for running a piece by a U.S. Senator reflecting the opinions of a majority of people in this country.I tried doing that, but they apparently don't let you post links to that day's paper. You might try googling: Margaret Sullivan OANN .

Still, death at the hands of the police is relatively rare (of course that doesn't justify any level of abuse or brutality). What's not rare is black people killing black people, but that is blamed on the ready availability of guns and not on the people who use them.
Texas has a population of 24 million, and from 2013-19 had 719 deaths. What State has the similar size population??
