Life is a balancing act. NOooo not sayin' you're an elephant. Some are more like a snake, songbird or butterfly ... insect or lion.
Regardless, we're all in it together. Be nice to one another and enjoy the ride ~~~

Kind of had to laugh when I saw this pic; the one grandparent who unfortunately had too much influence on me and my siblings was of the opinion that this life is but a tightrope walk over the flames of Hell and your only goal is to get into Heaven when you die, you shouldn't care about or waste your time on anything else. Guess it's because of where she grew up, a real impoverished, bible-thumping area of the American south.

You are invisible when you get old.

I was trying to cross the road earlier, close to a rather busy roundabout. I stood quietly on the pavement waiting for either a gap in the traffic or some kind person to let me cross.

I must have waited several minutes without any success until a young lady appeared on the other side of the road, short skirt, tight blouse.

Talk about a miracle, it was just like The Red Sea parting to let the Israelites cross to the promised land!

I believe that you get out of life what you put into it, and that applies to marriage, children, work, friendships, your body, dinner, and practically everything else. If you want to have a quality life, don't cram it full of nonsense. Put time, effort, and thought into what you're doing and learn to disregard the temptation that you are missing out on something else. It's just a restless spirit that results from having too many choices which are the thief of happiness.

What i made bold resonates with me. My father taught me from an early age that most things 'work' better if you give some thought to what result you want and the most efficicacious way to produce that result. That's not always the most 'efficient' way in terms of time management--because sometimes the work, the process is both instructive and enjoyable.

The number of humorous responses highlights one of....hundreds if not thousands: Humor, even when based on a difficult truth can make life more palatable to mind and heart, helping us thru the difficult parts.

Crucial for my mental health is maintaining a childlike sense of awe and wonder as well curiosity about the universe, being able to feel those brings joy even in trying times.

Positive thinking isn't about being in denial about the unpleasant, hurtful and difficult parts of life. It is about having confidence that i will find a way to solve problems, or at least find ways to deal/cope with whatever comes my way.

What works for me, might not work for everyone even if we are facing or have faced the same problems.

I've observed that my best time of day is sitting on my patio, having my morning coffee. It really slows things down and sets my peace for the rest of the day.
This is what my morning meditation does for me. And i can tailor the meditation to what i have to or want to get done that day. The evening one is about 'letting go' or at least shelving for the night anything 'troubling' me because i know 1) a good night's rest makes everything easier to deal with and 2) sometimes solutions to things come in my dreams.
