Odd gift suggestion for Mother's Day ?

I was gong to start a Mother's Day post under the Holiday's section but I decided not to just because this just seems too odd to put it there.

I received this ad from the grocery store that I shop at (part of the Kroger's chain). Maybe I am a little out of touch but it seems that their marketing division is missing the mark when they suggest buying lottery tickets for your Mother on Mother's Day . My mom passed almost 25 years ago but not once did I ever think of buying her lottery tickets for Mother's Day when she was still alive.

An I wrong in thinking this way? It's really not that big of a deal but I think that the marketing team really missed the mark on this one. Christmas stocking stuffer ? Sure. Birthday gift ? I can see that. But Mothers Day ?

Getting Mother's Day lottery tickets means you shopped at a gas station on your way over to mom's house. You got tickets, because the giant foam 'finger' just wasn't right.

Obviously it's a marketing ploy to sell more tickets. But as far as a gift for mom...it depends on the mother. And there certainly is no harm in buying the lottery tickets along with something else considered more...well..."motherly". Perhaps a gift wrapped in lovely paper or in a pretty gift bag with the lottery ticket(s) attached.
