Who is the most powerful person in the US? President? Speaker of the house? Senate Majority leader?

Second question...Does the Supreme court have too much power to shape American policy?

The Speaker of the House as he can decide which bills are brought up for a vote... HOWEVER.... the Senate MINORITY leader can stop any bill dead with a filibuster. I don't see the Senate Majority leader as having that much power... and the President is only as strong as a veto proof majority.

The Supreme court is now a politial arm... and base their decisions on politics rather than the letter and the intention of the law and the Constitution.

I see the power as shifting depending on who has the other controls. In other words, the President is the most powerful if he has both houses of Congress, otherwise he has the veto power in most cases. But not always as you point out. I guess I would have to say the President (MOST of the time).

I truly believe the supreme court justices should get 10 year terms. Thinking of their own electability by the public is a good thing generally.

Money is the fourth branch of government and the strongest one it seems...
