Off to my 50th high school reunion...

I'm off to my 50th high school reunion this weekend. Should be interesting; might be depressing but will probably be fun. I think I will acquit myself quite nicely. Modestly-sexy dress and 15 pounds lighter than when summer started. Of course, it's not the 105 I weighed when I graduated....sigh.

If the reunion is the usual, the former BMOC is now flipping burgers @ McDonalds, the nerds
are all multimillionaires, and the women are all checking out eachother to see how they're holding up.

My 60th was this year. I didn't go. I never go. It's now old people telling one another how they haven't changed and thinking, "He sure is fat or she is wrinkled"....Who needs to know half of our graduating class is now dead. I'll leave 'em as they were and enjoy them that way....I hope it is great for you Jujube...Go get 'em ya skinny thing ya....

I went to my 10[SUP]th[/SUP] and disco was the rage that year, so there was a lot of dancing and blinking lights, etc. The event was at a large hall, and there was a decent turnout (we had a large class). My 20[SUP]th[/SUP] was fun, but more of a big picnic event. My 50[SUP]th[/SUP] is in 3 years.

Many of the people look pretty darned good. I didn’t attend the 40[SUP]th[/SUP], but they had a FB page with pictures. The committee also publishes a little booklet listing where a lot of folks are and what they’re doing, and a list of those who have passed away

Went to my 50th last year and to the wife's 50th this year. What I came away with was this. After seeing the ladies that were in my class and in hers... I understand how blessed I am to have such a beautiful lady put up with me for 49 years!!!!

Gee, even fifty years later, former teenage girls/women are being "rated" on the basis of their looks? Sigh. I wonder how attractive these older men are? I will be so glad when this pervasive sexism is dead, and women are judged on the content of their character etc. It is beyond insulting, it is arrogant and hateful. Shame!!

Who said they were being "rated" on the basis of their looks? What I said was how grateful I felt to have met a lady that has been the love of my life for almost 50 years. In my eyes, she was the most beautiful then... and still is. In my eyes, her personality... integrity... charm... everything about this lady has made my life complete. Seeing and visiting with so many we knew "back then" I question if life would have as good to me had I married anyone else.
As we travel the highways of life, one often looks back and wonders if a decision here or a choice there would have made a difference in our lives. I stated in my original post that after 50 years since both she and I graduated from high school, spending time with many of those in our graduating classes have reinforced how blessed I was to find the most beautiful lady in the world... to me.

I agree, Falcon. Too many women engage in this type of rating and competitiveness. Most will never admit it. The focus on who is wearing what, hair, nails, shoes and who looks better has contributed to women not being taken seriously - especially in business/the workplace.

Back to topic. . . .high school reunion.
Waiting to see if jujube enjoyed herself.

Sadly, women can often be categorised as belonging to one of two camps, those who see other women as sisters, and those who view them as competitors for men's attention. Fortunately I work in an environment that does not promote that bs. To be fair, men also check each other out, just not necessarily for appearance. Jujube, have a blast at your reunion!

Have a blast jujube. Seeing old friends is always great! Competition is for the birds, and hopefully by now people have moved beyond their egos.

Thanks for the update Jujube, glad you had a great time! :)
