Oh, God! Why are you reading this?

About 30 years ago, I bought my land, because it was out in the sticks , and relatively cheap. Now, we're a suburb of NYC-a sizable number work in NYC, but live here. They bring NYC type salaries to cheaper PA. Years ago, we didn't have one red light, they just put in #4. We used to have 2 lane country lanes, now we have 3, 4 lane roads, with turning lanes. I used to be able to watch planes fly over to Newark and JFK, but now, with the light pollution, the sky is a smoggy blue haze- you can't even see the stars. I still have the deer and other critters, but at times, I can hear semi- rigs shifting gears to get up over the hills on US 80.

Whoever said 'retirement' was sitting back and enjoying life, was not retired. When you were 18, did you worry about sleep? I'm still trying to get the right combination of things to allow me to a full night's sleep. I get 8 hours of sleep (with BR breaks) and I feel like crap, I get 4 hours and I feel great?????? And now, that summer is coming, in bed, I'm either too hot and can't sleep, or too cold. I turn the heat on in the morning, and the AC in the afternoon.

We're a mess. 🥴 Fuzz, if you ever find the right combination, give me a buzz.

8 days ago, I had to renew a script for a med that needs to be approved by the insurance co, before it goes to the pharmacy. I don't know why, but you can't ask for a refill on this med. online, I have to call. The moment the women answered the phone I knew it was going to be screwed up. She was the type that would hand you an appointment card for August 33rd @ 1AM. And I was right!!! You have to be boomer to remember Marion Lorne- she always played a bumbling soul. The doc's secretary- a temp, was her. Supposedly, the script was sent to the pharmacy, but they never got it. AGGGHHHHHHH.
Still don't have the med and I run out tonight.

This is yesterday Part 2.
Got the mail, and there was a letter from the Social Security Adm. It said Daneil J. Cravner was appointed as custodian of my account, and did I agree??? If not, immediately call this number. Well, I was on the phone in a nanosecond. I wasn't sure this just wasn't a scam to call and give all my info to someone pretending to be SSA. But SSA said nothing was on my account. Then I happened to notice that the mail had gotten mixed up, it was for someone down the street. AHHHHHHHHH!!!.

I was right. Damn woman never entered it into the computer. I'm out of med.

After multiple calls with three supervisors, some how(?) the script got to the pharmacy, and I got my meds. I've been on medication for about 30 years for my back pain. So, I'm no stranger with late scripts getting to the pharmacy. I hate getting all worked up, and ready to strangle. One thing that irritates me is when you tell a supervisor about a problem and they say " I'm sorry". "Sorry" ain't helping me, do something.
I need to get back to my normal lever of gripping.

Try dealing with the VA...took me two months to get High Blood Pressure medication while they fumbled about. 1st my address was undeliverable, even though I've lived here, at that time, for a decade and had been receiving medication from them via the USPS for all of that time. Then the excuse was the prescription was expired, even though it was wrote 3 months prior...etc. etc. etc.

Finally got to see the brand new fawn. I think there's another one in the woods near my back yard. Talk about small- it was the size of a cat. It was jumping around and occasionally munching on grass. I'm used to seeing fawns that are leggy and at least 2 or 3 feet tall. It was less than a foot tall. I thought about getting a pic, but it was far away, and would have looked like a brown patch in front of brown bushes. Super cool!!!!!!!.

I wish I could have seen that little fawn! ❤️

I changed the bulbs in the overhead light in my 'office'. I'm 6 feet tall, so years ago, I could have done that standing on tippy toe. Today, I had to have a step ladder, and since I can't stand for very long without back pain, it took several trips up and down the ladder, with 20 minute 'rest' breaks. This getting old is a frikken bitch, despite all that "age is just a number" guff. That old geezer in the mirror isn't really a teenager in disguise.

Well, got off my butt and got the front lawn mowed. My lot is an acre and a third with over 100+ trees, so mowing it takes along time. Still have to pick the pine branches that drop off each year. My neighbor is bugging me about chaining the oil in my mower. This year it's 10 years old, and I've already changed the oil once. What the hell, I only use it for a few hours each year.

Actually feel great today. When you have a chronic back condition, that's something you don't often say. Last three nights I've slept till morning- YEAH!!! I stopped taking naps. Hope this continues.
There's going to be a "cannabis festival" at the fair grounds in July. They will have over 300 vendors, concerts, games, attractions for the whole family, etc.
All I could think of was some old Narc turning over in his grave.

This morning I enjoyed oatmeal topped off with raisins, maple syrup, sliced banana, ground walnuts and almonds. I chose oatmeal because it reminds me of a cozy kitchen in a cozy homestead. A mother with apron, a sleeping dog, a kitten playing with yarn under a rocker. I do muse often about being reborn in such a scene, but with my luck I'd be stuck in a slave ship rocking violently on angry ocean waves headed toward my master in the new land.

I'm finally sleeping all night. No naps. Naps for me are bad. Got to keep this up.
I live next to lawn nuts. The guy across the street has one of those thick green carpet lawns. He's always mowing and fertilizing. Me? I'm hoping my yard gets cut down by passing caribou. And, I've got a huge crop of dandelions coming up. I love dandelions- the yellow- that's my favorite color.
BTW, I have not seen a deer in over a week.
In the Pa. archelogy book I'm reading, way back about 16,000+ years ago; there were about 150 humans in Pennsylvania.

I accept what you say. I am just wondering how anyone could determine the approximate number of humans living in any one place 16,000 yrs ago.

About 70 years ago, my dad bought this co-op because it was near the subway station for him, near shopping for my mother, near the school my sister and I would attend. There was a farm across the street. It was only a huge square block, but the farmer grew some crops, had chickens & a goat. My first school was also situated near a farm. Across the other street by my home were abandoned 'mansions' that of course we kids called Haunted Houses. One stormy night, a hole was blown through the roof of one manse, and the next day, to our delight! our street was covered with millions of colored feathers! My one way street was 2 way 'cause there were barely any cars. We used the streets to play games.

I also saw the stars, several constellations were available, the two dippers & Orion's belt. I miss not being able to see them. Sometimes I can see planets, and have a good view of the moon.

Dogs used to roam the streets in packs. There were always strays about, dogs & cats. Every spring I saw robins and other lovely birds on their way somewhere.

It's so noisy now, that's the worst. The traffic is unbearable, the sirens are piercing, and you want a parking spot? Good luck with that!

Finally, the deer are back from vacation. My yard is full of them, again.
I kept getting letters saying I owe $50 for Drs. appointments. I paid them with my bank's "bill payer" check in April. Yesterday, I got the returned check in my mail box. Apparently, the clinic changed its mailing address, and my check had been floating around the Post Office for 2 months.
I have to remail the check, but I'm out of "forever" stamps. The last time I bought stamps, they only had Xmas forever stamps. I had to mail a sympathy card with a Santa stamp.

The things you think of when you're trying to go to sleep. Flat earth people- those , who claim the earth is flat, not round. No matter what logic you use, they will stick with earth being flat. My granddad used to say those western movie shootings were real. The bad guys actually died. When asked if they were dead, how could they be in a new movie; it didn't matter-they were killed. I guess were all like that.

That is true what your granddad said about cowboys really dying. Stop second-guessing your elders, especially your dear dad or granddad.

I'm amazed at myself. All my life, I've hated routine. When I became a nurse, I wasn't comfortable with the routine daily duties. I couldn't picture myself doing that for decades. I switched to psych, and there never two days the same. Yeah!!! That said, I eat the same exact breakfast, same exact lunch, same exact dinner for at least a decade. Some of that is because I know the exact number of carbs, I'm a diabetic. I'm not a foodie. I'm more for getting rid of "hunger", than the improving the taste of food. My stomach rules.
