It has been more than a decade since Middle Tennessee has dealt with swarms of cicadas. The last time the 13-year periodical cicada emerged from the ground was in May of 1998.Come May of this year, most of Middle Tennessee will again see the cicadas, according to Dr. Frank Hale, entomologist at the University of Tennessee Extension. Am I the only one who dreads this!?

We have a few of them every year and we'll see and hear them later in the season.......mama won't touch their empty dry shells so I get to pick them off things when I see them. :)

I live in cow country ( flat grasslands) so we don't have that problem thank goodness. I don't like those things. We do get the yearly June bug visit though.
