Oh Yayyyyy I'm Still a Badass

Yup, feel older than Gawd some days but I've still got my credentials. Tonight a young man came in for a huge bag of crickets. He had a goth look and of course I asked him what pets he was feeding. Two bearded dragons and a tarantula. I shared my story about getting a gift for a friend long ago.

My Mom came home from work early to find the gift skittering around the bathtub. It took her awhile to recover I'm sure. Then I related how interesting they are to watch. But you can't have sudden motion holding them. They have mini claws in each leg. If they're startled they'll grip your hand.

The young man looked aghast " I've NEVER HELD HIM". Yup Gramma is still cool

I'll pass on the tarantula but bearded dragons are sweet.

Yes, yes, I love bearded dragons. Such expression...when you drop in the crickets, even walking to the tank at feeding time, they lick their lips and smile.

Yikes! If I found something like that in my bathtub, I'd need time to recover too!

My Mom's been gone almost thirty years and I still feel guilty. Yes I was a rotten kid.

Moms are very forgiving, I'm sure she did.

But it's still a giggle to think about. My Mom was...shall we say she had a stiff sense of decorum at times? She arrives home from work and heads to the bathroom off of her bedroom. Sigh...she can finally unwind after a very busy day. There is a large furry spider in the bathtub directly next to the toilet...

N' sure back in the day I was fearless. Now if there is a Daddy Long Legs or slug in the basement I might shriek like a little girl for the kids to come down and kill it.
