YupEverything was emptied under the train... on the tracks?
Remember we are talking about the 1940s and a train, google it.I suspect that the sewerage is probably emptied at the station and flushing might cause some kind of issue. If you were draining the sewerage on an RV, I don't think you would want someone flushing at the same time.
I went on the auto train to Florida with my aunt and uncle in 72 when I graduated high school.
Uncle Jack had some little tune about not using the restroom when the train was in the station, don’t remember it though.
Perhaps you thought dropping a dollop on someone's shiny shoes was a good idea.Back in the 40s, I use to take a train to Utica, NY. I lived in Norwich, NY and it was about a 60 mile trip. Normally, I wouldn’t have to use the toilet, but I did because I got a kick out of this sign. Do you know why?

Actually this did happen occasionally, frozen sewage hitting houses at least, I remember it being in the papers a couple times.if sewage came out of the plane, where did it go? how would a person not get hit with it? oh that is just so disgusting.
I think they service the sewage treatment at the stations and flush them at the same time. I'm pretty sure now they have holding tanks. Maybe the good old days were different
We have come a long way on sanitation. I can remember raw sewage going into the rivers.
