Okay, Maybe Technology Isn't So Bad

Last night I couldn't sleep for a few hours as usual. I came downstairs to fool on the computer for awhile. I am so low tech it's silly sometimes. Maybe I'll accept that something like a flash drive will save me hours of retyping, that digital cameras are ace above picture taking back in the day...but things like real books made of paper, hand writing a note in a actual card and tucking in some actual photographs and sending it snail mail...I will not give those up.

Anyways back to last night. I went on YouTube. For some reason it popped in my head to try " Interview with____". Then I tried a search of a whole bunch of folks from the last few books I've read. BINGO! I found two documentaries and video after video. It's like all the printed interviews have just come to life again.

Likewise I would recommend for anyone interested...Pick a favorite actor, author, sports figure, musician, political figure. If they lived at least into the mid-1950's there is probably a film or video clip of them. Really interesting, don't know why I didn't think of it before.:D:D:eek:nthego:

There is just about anything on Youtube. I like to browse sometimes on a lot of different things. Hours and hours of fun and interesting things!

...don't forget, there are TONS of music videos of whatever musical genre you're interested in. TONS. Another huge Youtube value: tutorials of every conceivable type. Want to build a computer? Want to disassemble your refrigerator? Want to get that stupid "needs service" dashboard light turned off? It's all available on Youtube.

Yep, just about anything is there. If I want to change a dumbbell routine, I look up videos of how to properly do it. Etc etc etc.......

You think you are low tech??? My computer has a hand crank.:)

I sometimes end-up in dead-end searches where copyrights haven't been relaxed and estates still own original works. I had back-to-back disappointments this week, searching for Thor Heyerdahl's Kon-Tiki, then for Lowell Thomas' Cinerama-series. There's only bits and pieces of them available to view.

That said, YouTube is where I spend most of my online time.

This morning, I watched a Jamie Oliver youtube video on how to make omelets. Mine never work out - they look terrible. I made one just the way he said to do it, and it turned out perfectly. Boy, was I surprised and delighted.
