Makes ya wonder. Probably horse hair (but only gray?). I have visions of someone sitting there curling the hair.
I thought maybe we are missing out on a lucrative market.

That ad. reminds me of the time I came home from shopping and saw my husband sunbathing in the backyard. When I got closer, I burst out laughing when I saw he had covered his p**is with a sock, so he didn't get it sunburnt.

I remember using a washing machine the same as that one, I think it was a Bendix. When my grandparents went to England, they asked me to house sit for them. It came with the house when they bought. it. Poor granny was too scared to use it and only used a gas copper. I thought it was wonderful because my mother never had a washing machine, she too used a gas copper. I think this was back in the early 60's.

@squatting dog when I was little, I had to use one of those washers. I wasn't as big as it and had to use a stool. I got my hand and arm stuck in the wringer. Small and stupid I guess. I should prefer that I was uncoordinated.

I've had several friends who drank beer while they were nursing. I can't recall if it was to help them produce enough milk or what. This was back in the 70s.

I think invalids drank stout to help them get better.
