An older-than-dirt toolbox that I unearthed from the bowels of the shop. Ron said it was his grandpa’s and it was old then lol!
He estimates it to be 75-100 years old. Cleaned out the spider nests and cobwebs (😱) and scrubbed decades of accumulated grime away, then clear coated it and added hairpin legs to bring it into this new century. Voila!! Trendy side table!!

Re-purposing/restoring old items makes a house look nice. We have a clothes dresser in one of the guest bedrooms that my old Grandfather made...probably well over 80 years ago.

Looks great! I have a circa 50s-60s "sea chest" that I've repurposed twice; once as a gun and rifle safe and more recently as a coffee table. I turned a miniature chest of drawers with brass elephants across the front into a letter/bills holder and I keep postage stamps and paper clips and other small stuff in the drawers. It's cool looking. I've done a slew of repurposing projects. I don't see any point in just collecting old stuff. It makes more sense to make old stuff functional.

Ronni.....This looks like an old Gerstner toolbox. Gerstner started building toolboxes over 100 years ago in Dayton, Ohio. It could also be an old seaman's chest that was used to hold the tools for a seaman to make repairs while at sea. Today, Gerstner makes many different styles and is considered to be the premier toolbox for machinists and tool and die makers. I remember seeing these old boxes when I served my internship as a junior engineer at Allis Chalmers where we built nuclear reactors for the U.S. Navy.
