We seem to see the same picture...just different terms. What intrigues me about the modern quantum experiments is their appeal to raw curiosity. If two electrons can communicate information across vast distances without regard to the speed of light...I'm really interested. Time is obviously malleable and we can manipulate it. With mainframe computers, how long can it be until we can travel within it?

I see humanity as standing at the crossroads of our destiny. If we can transcend our nature, we will know everything. If not, we won't last 10 more years. I'm not as pessimistic as I once was. I think we might prevail...with some luck.

I knew nothing of Mennonites till an hour ago. We have Amish people near us who are highly regarded as craftsmen and farmers. I ended my affiliation with religion at 14. Like you and your family, it no longer suited my needs...and I left parochial school. I had ended my philosophical acceptance of any religion by 12 but was forced to hypocrisy till I could leave. I guess Buddhism comes closest to describing my belief system now.

I quit smoking in May after more than 50 years of stupidity. I'm to the point where I can get through a day without thinking about it. I've found I can suggest the thought be intercepted and quashed....it usually is but not always.

Getting a bit tired. I'll come back here later.

Hi metasegue,

Sorry for not responding right away. I got kind of caught up elsewhere and our little conversation slipped my mind. Gosh, seems like that happens more and more these days. I used to have a great memory, but now I'm going with labels on every box and working on 'minimalizing' just so I don't so much to remember! Isn't this aging process an interesting adventure? Sooo many changes!

I think you're right, humanity is standing at a cross roads and it's all about choosing (or not choosing) to be the next greatest version of ourselves! Which will it be? The high road or more of the same with disastrous consequences?

Would you mind if I suggested a video for your viewing pleasure, that I absolutely love (watched it at least a dozen times and it inspires me somehow each time!) which is a compilation of discussions by Russell Brand. And yes, I know, checkered and colourful past, but these days he's undergone a bit of a change of tone and is well worth listening to. He has much the same philosophy on life that you and I have been talking about here. Anyway, it's here if you're interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bKQXmvdr8o

So I'll leave you with that and hoping that you're having a nice evening wherever you are.

Hello Metasegue, Sorry so late. I'm just one of those who skip from post to post.
You say 52 million for organic gardening!! Wow!! We must be going about it all wrong. My husband is the gardener and has made his own compost and potting soil for the last 5 years. Maybe we should apply for some of that. He always has a big pile of compost waiting for next spring. Now he is into woodwork. You and he would get along fine. One of my friends always has a contest on as to who will grow the biggest some sort of flower. This year it was sunflowers and she thought she had him beat until he showed her his. It was 14 feet high with a hugh flower on top.

Hello and welcome metaseque, I'm also new to the forum, but so far it's been working well. Now about that unusual name ???

Hi nuiahi and justplainme. Debby and I have been dealing with a topic that involves my name. Metasegue is a combination of two words: meta deals with intrinsic knowledge while segue is a transition between two seemingly unrelated thoughts. It's something like; Epistemology: " a branch of philosophy that investigates the origin, nature, methods, and limits of human knowledge" wrapped around interpretive evolution. That's how I see my perspective.. ..

The 52 million was to expand farmers markets...actual purchase of areas where the public can sell their produce with no fee to some landlord. I'm sure all the supermarket chains and Wal-Mart hate the idea.

I'm waiting for the gravel truck to show up. We have some monster low points in our driveway that filled with water, froze, cracked, and broke up during sub zero weather last winter. The chards were lodged at all angles and acted like an obstacle course for our vehicles while they chugged through a foot of slush....that can't happen again.

I'm running an ad in our local small town paper for an "older, good running, cheap, gas guzzler...body damage OK". My reasoning is; gas is going to get cheap and the miles on these cruisers are usually low. They're owned by older, more conservative, drivers who don't have computers and still read papers. A heavy Buick, Olds, Caddy, or Lincoln will plow through anything winter can throw at us. I'm not concerned about a little rust or scrapes...as long as it gets me reliably from point A to point B.

The Saudis have watched our massive growth in oil and gas production here. They just slashed their price for light crude. The Russians are going to eat the loss being Europe's biggest supplier. I'm sure our government was involved here...now Europe can impose even heavier sanctions on Russia for her actions in Ukraine. Anyway, buying the gas hog sounds pretty good.

And welcome from me too Metasegue I am looking forward to reading more of your interesting posts.. together with yours
and Debbys it made great reading today .. so enjoy the forum I am sorry I am late in welcoming you .. I know you will enjoy
it here as the folks are a great group.. :)

Thanks Rainee. Yeah, so far so good. I find the atmosphere intelligent, relatively tolerant, and occasionally combative...good start.

Debby, I checked out the contemporary Russell Brand style and content. I had not heard of him before. Some of his stand up routines are outrageous but beyond sexual orientation, he's just saying what many of us know to be true of ourselves. And yes, his concept of reality is closely matched by mine...and yours. Thanks for turning me onto him.

I think one of the major differences between my experience of the mystic and anyone else's exposure is my sense that it isn't mystical at all. There are subtle sensations, both mental and physical, but they are interpretable as normal manifestations of abnormal phenomena. Conscious manipulation of those sensations is possible once detected. You don't have to become a Zen master to harness your subconscious powers. Just stay awake.

Yes, Russell Brand, wild and crazed for a time, but I think he's really changed a lot since he finally kicked his drug habit. He also had a pretty good discussion at Cambridge University talking to students there. I especially loved one where apparently he got evicted(?) after he received his award from GQ because of his comments concerning that company Hugo Boss making uniforms for the Nazi's. Quite hilarious and proves that he's not afraid to say what he's thinking. Another you might find interesting (although very raunchy!!!) is his Messiah Complex tour. Made some good points I thought.

Hi Carolyn,

Thanks. I'm liking it. I take it Scarlet O'Hara was some relation to you?
