OMG Someone Signed Me Up To A Skuzzy Dating Site

I have half a mind to go to the police about this but I guess they have more important things to worry about.

I am 99.9% sure who did it and can say this as the email address is one that only this person has along with Pinterest and Flipp both of which would not do this type of thing.

Got a reply from someone on the site and now am wondering if there will be more. So many questions come to mind. Of course I did not answer but did have a look at the site which features mature woman on the home page in sexy poses. Older women looking for younger guys. I feel sick about this.

Any advice?

Agree wholeheartedly with Mike on this issue. And don’t let it upset you...which I realize is easier said than done. But whoever this person is probably did it as a joke. I would block that person also. But let it go, if you can, and don’t give them the satisfaction of even acknowledging it.

Good idea, Mike and silverfox. I know how you feel Lee. I experienced a male making a chart of everything I said and then googled it all to get further info. He knew where I lived because I mentioned a restaurant nearby that I liked and some other clues I guess. He knew the names of all my kids and where all our past addresses have been and lots of other stuff about us.

We have to be very careful of what we say online. Another guy showed up at my work. He came all the way from Canada.

Wow-you just reminded me of something I had forgotten all about. Years ago, when I first joined the Classmates site, this guy that I went to school with started sending me messages. Just friendly "hi,how are you" messages-never anything inappropriate. The funny thing was though,I remembered his name, but didn`t remember him. Anyway,he ended up showing up where I worked asking for me. Problem was,he asked my boss-who happened to be my husband lol. He left me alone after that....

That’s funny and scary all at the same time.

Is this person worth keeping as a friend? If not sure, talk to the person generically about it. Watch the reaction. Or just get rid of that email address & be careful around that person.

Today DH commented that a friend who was hacked a dozen years ago has still been ‘sending’ messages.

The person did this in retaliation as I wanted to end what was obviously not a friendship to begin with. Now blocked online and in my head.

I had to go to Bell to get the address off as it was connected to my phone. Signed up for new email addresses. So all is well now....I hope

Thanks for the advice and replies everyone, much appreciated.

Block it and report it to your server as either spam or phishing.

Remember years ago when your internet automatically took you to a porn site if you did a search for a word that might have a dirty meaning?
I was at work when my boss (female my age) was at her computer & she was a fan of the band "Queen." She wanted to know where they were performing & when she typed in their name, it took her to a sexual bondage site. She was very religious & it shocked her & she yelled "I can't believe how I ended up on this site; I just wanted tickets to Queen."
I said, "What's on that site?"
She said, "It's some sort of bondage website with women hanging from the ceiling & weird stuff & it's asking for my name, address & phone."
I said, "So tell them you don't have time to talk now because you're all tied up."

I never saw her laugh that hard...

With enemies like that, who needs friends?

There have been some good suggestions in this thread, so all I can say is sorry for your troubles and I hope there is a resolution in your near future.

I'm a guy, and I would be more than irked by some idiot posting my email address all over the place. Just to be clear, Lee, you have that person's email address?
yes I do have the person's email address....but if you are going to suggest doing something with it in retaliation, no I will not, it will gain me nothing and would only escalate the situation.

lol - before I retired we had internet at the office but, of course, anything off color would be blocked and you would get a warning, which also went to the IT folks. I was having some lawn chairs redone at a company called "Strip and Strap" and I wanted to check the status of my order. Needless to say, just the name set off all the alarms. Fortunately I knew the systems operator very well, and gave her a call to explain. She just laughed.

I think perhaps people don't realise the dangers of being too open on the internet. There are some very weird people about!
