One of the Best Dance Routines Ever

Fred Astaire said it was ‘the greatest dancing he had ever seen on film’. In a dance performance for the ages, the Nicholas Brothers, Fayard (1914–2006) and Harold (1921–2000), dazzled audiences with their acrobatic routine to Cab Calloway’s hit song, Jumpin’ Jive. Not only that, but the routine was unrehearsed and what you see was the first take!

here's a cute clip of Bill Robinson with Shirley Temple...

I know that the Nicholas Bros also did some performance work with Bill Robinson

Terrific well recorded live performance from that era.

What is not well known is many jazz musicians and tap dancers of that era used cannabis that provides greater sensual perceptive awareness, they had to be highly secretive about while publicly denying such. Something that was rediscovered during the late 60s counterculture rock era that likewise was buried due to societal pressures by the late 70s and largely forgotten except by musicians but now emerged again with many Rap musicians and break dancers.

That looks like what Denzel Washington and Spike Lee were mimicking.
