One phone, a radio and a daily newspaper was the extent of my media growing up!

This was it thru my childhood that stayed the same until tv came along during adolescence. How about you?

Same as you... but we had a TV.. Black and white... channels 2, 5, 7 and 9 That's it. Now.. I think I have 200 channels..

Also a local drug and grocery store before the chains came along. Maybe I am being nostalgic but it was a close little community with everybody knowing each other...

Small town here, too. The streets were always busy with shoppers and people window watching. Stores were closed Sunday's and banks had strict banking hours.

Now, streets are almost deserted, except for people dealing. So sad to see my hometown turned into this.

The phone (singular) did not have a dial. You picked it up and told the operator what number you wanted.
It was a big deal when I got my own radio for my room at age 14. My father had previously installed an outlet so I had a place to plug it in.
The TV (B&W) came when I was 19 and not particularly interested.
We did get an afternoon paper.
We also had milk delivery.
We had one car, which mom never learned to drive.

Two phones, two radios, one TV with rabbit ears, morning paper. Then, when I was 10, two additional radios (transistors for the pool). Phones plugged into wall jacks, had dials, didn't go out when the electricity did (so you could phone in that the electricity had gone out).

Two drugstores, each with soda fountain and pharmacist. Three full-service gas stations, where the men wore uniforms, checked everything under the hood without being asked (or having to say "Pop your hood") and all four tires. And I think the spare if you were going on vacation.

No TV until I was in the 5th grade. I didn't feel deprived because most people didn't have a TV, either. Only rich people did. There was only programming on a few hours at night, anyway. We had a dial type phone and were on a party line. The whole way growing up, we only had one car. My mother didn't drive and didn't learn until after my dad died.

I didn't see a "real" TV ,other than a picture in the Sunday paper ..until I was in my mid 20's We only had a radio ,which shut down for two hours at lunch time ...and finished at 8 Pm at night ..We had our favourite serials we listened to after the six o'clock news ,I clearly remember one called White Coolies ..not certain if that was the correct spelling ...
We had to have a Radio licence back them I think it may have been expensive as I remember my grandparents hiding their radio just in case the inspector called in ..Never had the luxury of a phone when living at home

Actually being naked and wet and hungry is great if you're in the shower with your SO and you haven't had second breakfast yet!
