Ontario woman facing criminal charge following water gun incident

You're making a total assumption about Ms. Washik when there is no stated evidence that she was deliberately provocative while there was statements from various neighbours that the complainer is always calling the cops for every little thing.
You're right. I'm making an assumption based on the fact that the man was mowing his lawn. If he just happened to be in his yard, I might tend to think otherwise, but lawn mowers are noisy critters, even when there's a party going on nearby. So I do believe she squirted him intentionally.

I don’t care what the backstory is. Getting squirted with a squirt gun is nothing to be arrested for. Cops should have told him to dry off and forget it.
I agree, Carol. The police should have quickly defused this.

This has become a mountain made out of a molehill, but the debate is interesting.

Man says woman intentionally sprayed him with water gun in Ontario neighbourhood where he's faced harassment

Wendy Washik, facing assault charge, denies water-spraying Sheehan Rochester on purpose

The man who called police on a Simcoe, Ont., neighbour after he got sprayed with a water gun — resulting in an assault charge against her — says there's more to the story and he has the security footage to prove it.

Sheehan Rochester, 49, told CBC News he's experienced years of racially fuelled harassment by a group of neighbours that escalated to what he alleged was an assault on Sept. 1.

Rochester is accusing Wendy Washik of intentionally spraying him, which she says was an accident.

"It was kind of to strip me of my integrity, to strip me of my dignity," Rochester said of the incident.

"We have a right to live in our home in peace … we don't need to be accosted where we live."

Ha! I knew she was lying! Lock her up!

I don't know for sure, but it looks to me like he made a point of not just saying hello and ignored her even though he knew she was there. I can't help but wonder if this isn't all in his head and his response over the past couple years is to just call the cops. Some people excel at being the victim. One of my daughters is like that and so is my sister.

He had an unusual sign behind him during the interview.

She was talking to the police. I thought she said they didn’t talk to her. Who knows what the conversation was about.

Based on the animosity in the neighbourhood, the value of everyone‘s home went down. I wouldn’t buy beside someone who has called the police 14 times.

So far it's just words from both of them.

There is nothing here conclusive. The alleged incident happened while the man was on his front lawn. It seems as though there are two cameras overlooking his lawn, yet it was said that the incident happened "off-camera". A small portion of the lawn seems to be off-camera at the bottom right of the video?

It seems to me that it is one set of hearsay against another. Are people here really attempting to pass judgment on this?

We had a neighbour on our street who called By-Law a zillion times on fellow neighbours.

Someone threw a rock through their front window at 3 in the morning...never heard a peep from them ever again.

If it turns out that Washik was lying, she could be indicted for fraud, since she made money off her allegations on GoFundMe... over $10,000, plus she's been raising money on another crowd-funding site. She could be in big trouble.
