Open for Business

So, being progressive as we are (=after a person in power got caught exposing his "privileges"), lots of businesses reopened in California last week. My daughter-in-law works at a very popular restaurant where only take-out and outdoor dining was how things were done for most of last year. Now it's business as usual and no masks required. For 3 days the restaurant has been packed with a line of unmasked diners trailing clear out into the parking lot. Virtually everyone wants to dine inside. Only the wait-staff wear masks, and it's optional. My DIL said all of them chose to wear a mask, including herself. She said she counted 42 customers she waited on this past weekend who had at least 1 close relative die of covid-19. She's already had it herself, but she's scared to death at work.

She ordered some new masks through a friend who's a hospital nurse.

I don't know about progressive as it being stupid. I will probably never go to a restaurant again. I prefer to eat at home anyway. I will have food delivered sometimes and that is taking enough chances as it is. I wear a mask when its delivered and they do too. I like to cook but do like some food from Mamacitas as I love their beef enchiladas.

I didn't realize that mask-wearing for servers had become optional. How bizarre.
Very bizarre. I guess management made it optional bc it's not required of the customers, idk, for the sake of equality?
I'm anxious for shopping day to get here to see if my grocery store is still requiring customers to wear masks. They're in Sacramento Proper but I don't know if that matters. Maybe it's about eating - you can't eat with a mask on, but of course you can certainly wait tables wearing one.

We were out last Saturday night just for a drive and saw all of the many restaurants parking lots near full.
