Oprah Winfrey, a Maui homeowner, donates supplies to residents impacted by wildfires

Many people especially women really like Oprah. Her show broke new ground for them to stretch out in many different ways. Others don't like her because she acts contrary to what she promotes. Many wealthy activists do the same. She had anther one of her mansions on the island and is doing all she can to lend a hand. People there are in desperate need. How else can we , being so far away, help these people?

What's really going to hurt will be the middle & lower income people who will be forced or coerced to sell their properties, making Maui unaffordable for any people but billionaires.

I'm not a fan but IF it is genuine help for those who really need it then I applaud her efforts.

Can understand the locals reactions to an outsider buying up their land .... (like the Chinese buying up land here)

But if she will do good things for them and Maui, let her put her money to good use.

I go back and forth on Oprah. Loved her show back in the day and thought she wouldn't change.

Good for Oprah in deciding to go there and see what residents really need. I was one of Oprah’s biggest fans. I watched her show daily but when she retired from her show and had her own channel, I was shocked by the content. Instead of spiritual content, which her show was mostly about, it was about dark unsolved horrific murders and other content I was truly shocked about. After this realization she dropped from the pedestal I had placed her on ( my own fault ) but I still like her.
