Oregon to allow people to pump their own gas during the virus

Oregon, one of two states that does not allow people to pump their own gas will allow it for at least two weeks during the virus.

Which brings up the question does the virus survive around gas fumes and residue. I'm all for pumping one's own gas but with the virus isn't all the different people handling the pump handle as issue? Or is an attendant taking credit cards, cash etc, a second person a greater issue.

I always pay at the pump using a credit card.

To me, the pump and the credit card pad on the pump are not much different than any other surface that we touch when we are out in the world.

I was really surprised when I learned about Oregon not allowing drivers to pump their own gas.

I have to admit, that I like someone else pumping my petrol for me... here in the UK we all pump our own ( I use latex gloves) , but in Many regions of Spain and Italy, they mostly pump the gas for you.. Great..it appeals to my lazy side..let them do the work while I sit in the car and then pay them out of my drivers window...

Yeah, been that way forever here

I pump my own because I get mine at the local reservation.

I've wondered about using the debit...at gas stations or anywhere
Or letting a cashier handle my card...along with several 100
Money can't be much better

Too bad technology hasn't come up with hands off....like a scan

I slide it into the slot. The screen asks you if okay. I press enter and say yes to get my receipt which I check to be sure it is correct. You don't sign anything at the pumps I have used here in Texas. You only sign if you go in and pay before pumping. I prefer to pay at the pump. Several times a man next to another pump sees me with my cane and comes over and pumps for me. I say thank you and he says "yes mam" (sic). Happens quite a lot to me.
