Other Forums Be Careful

I've gotten malware by clicking links in Messenger supposedly sent by my cousin.

I avoid messenger.

Then there are some people who are malware spreaders just because they're unaware of what to be suspicious of. (Like my cousin.)
Facebook Messenger has become the vehicle for spreading spam and malware. I've had my FB account spoofed(not "hacked"), it's an major annoyance. I don't know what more I can do that I haven't already done, I've made my Friends list invisible to all but myself.

I began my internet posting with soc.retirement. Fun, and I got to know quite a few people, BUT it succumbed to politics. I admit an interest in politics, but the retirement aspect faded and the forum was devoured by bitter politics and I do mean devoured. I certainly support the anti-politics position of the administrators of this forum.

Ok,, I've been online I think since 1979 when 'chat rooms first began to be popular.
Some of us exchanged greeting cards,, meant in person.

I've sold things on Ebay & later bought things or sold a few things on Craigslist.

I thought this wasn't my neighbor's daughter.
I don't private message many folks.

When did most of you become internet users?

I think it was in the 90s

The best approach is not to keep on torturing ourselves by seeking this non-existing safety.
Although I haven’t ever felt safe, I can’t stop longing for it; wish I knew how to stop, I hate feeling unsafe though so I doubt I’ll ever be able to stop wishing for safety.

I have always felt that FB and any others like FB are not safe, and yes I do have a FB account. Friends and family know the name I use on FB,and I have 16 "friends", they are family and friends ,you know people I actually know. I see people put their children or grandchildren pictures right there where anyone can see them, their names often are there too. I find that so foolish.

You can comment on anything you like... what you can't do is continually criticise me, gor something that either I've not done or is none of your business...

I don't criticise your posts .. even if I don't agree with hem....and as far as seeing posts of yours that I didn't reply to, that would be because I didn't see them...simple as tat. It gives you no right to criticise my posts for no reason... and expect me no to respond.. so do me a favour and put me on ignore , that way my conversations with other people can be MY business.. and not yours... because I really don't care about your opinions on anything !
When, where and how did I criticize you? Show me the posts. A difference of opinion does not criticism make! And I feel like a couple of incidences you are referring to is where I made a general comments based on the replies of others and didn't even reply to nor tag you! If you can show me different...then all well and good.

And no...I'm not going to put you on ignore! Why? Because you post some interesting and sometimes even informative stuff. I'll be talking to my BFF and telling her about a news story and she'll say...how did you find that out? I'll say Hollydolly. She's on the forum and somehow finds out news about what's going on in the U.S. faster than we do! It's amazing! Oh damn! There I go talking nice about you behind your back (again)! 😛

But feel free to ignore me if you like. Wouldn't make me any never-difference. I'm not here to bicker and I ain't gonna let anybody mess of my positive energy when I come here. As Danny Glover said in Lethal Weapon..."I'm too old for this sh*t". So once again I say
Have a nice day HD.

I hope that wasn't a Macbook Pro! o_O

I fixed the title on this thread I was just saying FB and other forums aren't safe be careful. I should have worded this differently and did...not a biggie really...hugs

Forget Facebook - I'm convinced that all Social Media falls into the "not safe" category. People have lost their minds. Worse is when they decide Social Media is a good place to get their news, and therefore use it to form opinions. It's a cesspit.

The basic idea of "staying in touch" sounds good, but we know people are using it a whole lot more than that.
