Our generation did change the world.

I was thinking about kids, today. They accept everything as always being there. They accept the internet & social media as a given. But when we left the nest, the world was a hell of a lot different, back then. The past generations did their best: and then, it was out turn. I can't take credit for much of what we did. But remember how things were when we left the nest, and how they are today. Like generations before us, we left some things undone, but we can be proud of what we did.
Don't you believe our generation did change the world?
 

For Sure. I still sometime have thoughts about how things were when I was a child, and compare that scenario to the world today's children know. It's amazing how much things have changed since the 1940's....and the pace of change is accelerating. At this rate, I cannot imagine how the world will look in another 100 years...that's if Humans find a way to solve some of the looming problems...And That is a Big "IF".
 
Yes, I think our generation did change the world. How this generation views new and better things is appalling. I grew up in the 50's and when something new came along we were excited about it. If we were lucky enough to afford the item it was well taken care of, grateful we were able to have it . Nothing was taken for granted. Both my Grand kids, 7 and 9 have tablets to play games on. This past Easter we were gathered in the living room. The kids on the floor playing their games.They tired of that and moved on to playing with their toy cars. The tablets laid on the floor. They actually were stepping on them as they played with the other toys. Two years ago I wanted a Kindle. I thought long and hard about it. When I did purchase it I got a screen protector, I even put small felt dots on the back so it wouldn't scratch. These things are considered throw aways to this generation. I just can't seem to understand their way of thinking.
 

I think our (my) generation helped end the war in Vietnam. We tried to create an anti establishment world based on love, communal trust, and inter racial acceptance. In the latter, we failed. The man, (the establishment) won.
 
My generation fought the Korean War. I was very young and immature and not at all political savvy so did not understand much of what it was about at the time but my government said it was necessary so I didn't question it. I sincerely hope the current generation does not have to harvest the crop from seeds sown then.
 
I didn't do any stuff to improve the world, but I can say that I gave my best for my job. The men & women, who started a farm, never thought they were transforming an era. I started thinking about this when I talked about walking to school. It was a different era. We weren't taking steps to stop pedophiles, because we didn't understand the danger. You couldn't say the word "pregnant" on TV. You had one phone with a cord per home. We weren't studying the heavens with telescopes in space. When kids with birthday of "200x", they will grow up in an era we made for them. It's not the best of eras, but better than the previous era, we inherited by other hard working generations.
