Out for a Meal. Leftovers?

If you go out for a meal, do you bring the leftovers home? I definitely do, unless I didn’t enjoy the meal.

If I can’t bring it home (e.g. travelling), I tend to eat too much because I don’t want to waste it.

In the US, your restaurants generally serve much larger portions than here.

I do. Usually ask for a to go box at the beginning of the meal so I won't overeat from the huge portions. I can usually get another two meals from leftovers.

I never waste food. The term "leftovers" should be changed to "eating what you paid for. Who does not like cold fried chicken? I frequently go to a Chinese buffet and always take only what I will eat.

We have little dogs at home that totally EXPECT me to bring them food anytime that we go out to eat; so I always have to save some leftovers to take home and divide up for the dogs.
Even if it is something that the dogs don’t like, I still take home leftovers, and have them later. Very few things qualify for this, since the dogs happily eat just about anything that I bring home, unless it is a lemon wedge.

It's very rare in the Uk to ask for a 'doggie bag'... most restaurants look at you squinty eyed if you ask to take your leftovers home..pizza places are best at it, but normal restaurants have a lot of catching up to do...

When we did go out to eat we always brought home our leftovers. Probably will not go out again if ever. I have gotten use to delivery and pick up!

I often can't eat all of my meal so I do bring home the leftovers.

It's been a year and half (roughly) since we were last out to eat, but absolutely, doggy-bag containing leftovers in tow when we leave a restaurant where we don't finish.

To those who feel the need to squint their eyes at such, my advice to them would be, shut your eyes completely if you don't like it.

Nothing ever get's wasted in the way of food in our house or when we're out, and shame on those who do waste.

Coincidentally, me and the Missus just got back from dining out. Lately restaurant leftovers don't taste as good as home made leftovers, so I get the Senior Plate if they have them. The portions are a bit smaller. But we went to Chan's and their food keeps really well, probably because it's all delivered fresh daily by their son, who's one of the chefs.

Absolutely. Yesterday my husband and I went into the city to get a few things and we stopped at a restaurant and ate. It was the first time in over a year that we’d eaten IN and it was awesome however I rarely finish an entire meal so I ask for a container to take home to eat for later. Leftovers are great !
