Outside games , in your youth

Badminton, croquet, hopscotch, kickball.

Had a little rolling croquet set like this:

We sometimes had softball games, in a nearby park, that would last all day. We would leave and comeback as hunger struck us. At the end of the day we would have scores like 89 to 110. Just one long game. Lots of fun and good visits with our friends while waiting for our time at bat or to head out into the field.

We loved to play "Horror House" in the dark, mysterious attic. My mother was always after us to pronounce it "HAH-RER" or preferably change the name to "Spook House", instead of pronouncing it "w-h-o-r-e" as we did in our Hoosier accents. I could never figure why she was so insistant on this. I've had many a giggle about this as an adult, my mother being the proper Church Lady that she was.......

That was during WW2, we played war with toy guns. The guns were made of wood because there was no metal available for toys.

My dad bought an old house with a large back yard for us to play in. We had baseball and foot ball games. It was great ...... until it was time to mow the lawn.

Hopscotch, hide-and-go-seek, kick ball, cops and robbers. We also had a good and bad club -- we would alternate weeks.
