Outside Security Cameras

And of course "Ring", type door bells, a warning!

There was a discussion about these devices on the radio, yesterday
I think that it was, a lady who called in had been getting lots of phone
calls from friends, to tell her that a video of her 12 year old son had
been posted, on "Social Media", I don't know which one, the caption
attached to the film stated, "Shifty looking youth casing/checking on
large affluent houses, should we expect a visit from a gang of burglars"?

The poster was a neighbour who lived in the next street, being a bit
over the top, he was identified and has been ostracised for accusing a
you schoolboy from the neighbourhood, of being a crook, he was
identified by the background on the video.

I suggest that you don't try to predict the future, in this case he got it
very wrong.

Save the video till the Police ask for copies.

Mike.

The camera catches all sorts of things from racoons, to squirrels to skunks, as well as young juveniles who most likely act on the instigation of adults. I say this bcoz i was blatantly told by my new rental neighbor not to mess with him as he would find ways to mess with my head after i reacted to his son kicking a football into the common fence using it as a goal, definitely a Pele kick!

Posting any what on the net ?... if anyone steals from me, and are arrested and convicted I have every right to post their face everywhere I like.. they're criminals, and I'm tired of people mamby pambying criminals and not caring about the victims..

Criminals, OK hollydolly, just don't assume, what somebody is, like
the one in my original post did and he was wrong.

I think Mike means that the original person had photos of the teen (probably not actually doing anything wrong) but labeled him as ‘shifty’ and that he was ‘casing’ the area, when he was just there

yes but I've never 'assumed'' anyone was doing wrong, or posted it anywhere.. the one person who we did post photos of was the criminal who stole our package..and I'll always do that.. name and shame.. or at least Shame ...

@Mike So this kid was caught on someone's camera system and he lives down the street and the person with the camera uploaded it and stated the kid looked shifty? That's not good to just make an accusation like that.

But I do like the ability to have cameras. I sure wish they were this small and cheap when I owned that house. For sure I could have caught vandalism. Eggs thrown at my house, front yard garden stake bent, stuff thrown in my yard including cigarettes in the bird bath, jerk behind me throwing broken mugs into my yard (I threw it back) and trimming the branches from the tree in my yard that were over his fence and throwing them back in my yard. That's what I can think of for now.

In some states, someone's outdoor security cameras can look anywhere as long as the camera is on their property. The cameras can be pointed directly at a neighbor's doors and windows, backyard, pool, etc., and it's legal, and there's nothing you can do about it except to try and block their view. Don't believe me? Check out the outside security camera laws in your state.

No matter how, why, or where someone photographs or videotapes you, whether you're a criminal or not, those photographs or videos can end up anywhere. You and/or your children, grandchildren, visitors, your home, cars, property, etc., could be plastered all over the internet without your knowledge or consent. "Privacy" is a thing of the past.

What I posted above speaks directly to what happened to the woman's son in Mike's post. Because of a lie and a video posted on social media, an innocent boy is being accused and ostracized because of something he didn't do. Unfortunately, people are very quick to judge and jump to conclusions when they don't have accurate facts... and, sadly, that's fact.
