Something I do with my photography pals every new year. A dozen fave shots from the year just gone.
As always is was soooooo hard to cull this down to a dozen. I could easily have done a dozen landscapes, a dozen wildlife, a dozen people - etc
So - here we go - the ruthless selection...
1. Bearded Reedling/Tit in the classic pose at Leighton Moss. A shot I've been after for a long time!
2. SR Merchant Navy Class 35018 British India Line heading south across Ribblehead Viaduct on the Settle-Carlisle Railway.
3. Kestrel at RSPB Leighton Moss Salt Marshes.
I was lucky enough to see this lovely bird on top of a post some distance off. Then even luckier for it to spot something in the grass and close half the distance before pouncing!
The Nikon Z9 and 500mm PF gave me half a dozen or so sharp shots along the way. This is my favourite!
4. Sunset Across Morecambe Bay. Probably my fave shot of the year. And the first to be framed big for the wall in our new home.
5. "Mr Goldfinch you are clear to land at seed station 1" - a shot from the first bird shoot with the Nikon Z9 and it's game changing auto focus system.
6. Street photography has been more limited since we moved away from my Manchester & Liverpool haunts. A bit serendipitous this one as it turned out to be Ellen, a friend's daughter, on a lunch break.
7. The Lakeland Fells of Dow Cragg, Scafell and Coniston Old Man. Taken from Morecambe sea front 25-30 miles away.
8. A hot hazy day on Morecambe Bay with the Lakeland Fells beyond.
9. Storming round Druids Corner at Oulton Park Cheshire. British Superbikes in September.
10. Morecambe Stone Jetty on a foggy November evening.
11. Kingfisher crabbing on the saltwater marsh at Leighton Moss.
12. And to finish - an 'Autumn colour' shot that won me a double camera strap harness.
