Packed a Suitcase Lately?

When is the last time you packed a suitcase for a night or more away? Have you travelled anywhere?

Two receipts were lodged in a nook in my suitcase from the end of December, 2019 when we went away for Christmas. We were planning on going somewhere in March 2020 and we all know how that went. The border to the US just opened to drive there this month. We’d still need proof of being Covid-free to return to Canada. $90 each and if it fails you have to isolate at a hotel.

We did do some RV travelling in BC when we could find campgrounds.

Last night we realized how out of practice we were when we organized for one night away. The wheels on my suitcase were actually squeaking as I pulled it down the hotel hallway.

Yes my suitcaes haven't been used since 2019 for travelling , either. Last trip was just before C-19 hit the world in the feb/ march time of 2020 ..and like you Jules we can't travel out of the country without showing proof of double vaccination, and like you we have to pay to isolate in a hotel on our return if we're not C-19 free.....also I understand there's still some forms that have to be completed online a couple of days before flying or sailing home

I'm going to get my second vaccine this afternoon..

Packed a Suitcase Lately?

No, but, talking suitcases...

When I was about 12, I was visiting/staying with relatives in Ireland.
My cousin Kathleen who was about 6 years older than me was arguing very loudly with Auntie Maud.
Shortly after, Kathleen stormed out of the house with a little suitcase, she got half way down the lane and it started raining, heavily.
Like a drowned rat, Kath came back into the house and sat at the kitchen table.
Auntie Maud put her arms around her shoulders and whispered, "Come on, darlin', get this rice puddin' down yer, and next week, we'll both go with our Molly and Tim back to England and stay with them for a while."
They did too. 😊

Last trip for hubby and I was March 2020 and we went to Dunedin, Florida for the Blue Jays games. Lock down went into effect a couple of days after we returned - we hadn't realized that it was serious. Not traveled anywhere since. Hubby is supposed to go to Africa with his 2 siblings and brother-in-law in January but it is not confirmed yet. I am not going anywhere yet!

This thread made me realize that I don't own a suitcase!

When I moved here 12 years ago I sent my airport wheelie bag to the local charity shop.

The only thing I have now is a small nylon duffle and a box of trash bags.

Our last trip was in 2019 when we did an Alaska cruise. We were round trip from LA. NO airports! We were in a suite and that came with all kinds of perks. I have attached a copy of the trip story.

Many suitcases in the back of my walk-in closet ... have been sitting there for 4 years!
Maybe someone might use them in the future? .... probably won't be me

One driving trip and one flight in the past year but will be staying put for awhile because the masking requirement and the crowds made it so unpleasant the last time.

I've used a small Land's End canvas suitcase for yrs,can fit most things in it
Last month,I was on a plane for the 1st time in 2 yrs flying to NYC for my nephew's wedding over Labor Day weekend. I always put the suitcase underneath the seat in front of me instead of the overhead bin

In June we flew to California for our oldest granddaughter's HS graduation. Then again in August for a 3 day airbnb getaway. The suitcases were different though. Larger ones for the CA trip because we were gone a week. We just used duffels for the airbnb getaway.

We're flying back to CA in November for 10 days to have Thanksgiving with my one son and fam who lives there, and also so that Ron can help him repair some wood work that wasn't capably done when they renovated their house last year.

We have not been out of this small county, except for when I drove our granddaughter over to Tampa airport which is just across the bay.

I haven't packed a suitcase since 1999 when I went to California to visit my brother and family.

However, I did pack a small carry case about a week ago in case a disaster hits...🌚🥳💐😵‍💫🤓😂

I traveled so much that I always had a suitcase with toiletries that mirrored what I had at home. When I was sent into early retirement in June 2020 I unloaded all of them. I repacked them in September of this year when we went on a cruise to the Greek Isles. It felt great.

The last time I packed a suitcase was when my kids and I went to Atlanta in mid-February 2020. I had hoped to buy a house, but could not find one I liked enough. The key factor was, besides the yard and insides, the house had to be pretty enough so I would love seeing it when I came home. I haven't lived in a house I thought was really pretty in over 30 years, and I was bound and determined to live in one.

We hightailed it back home when my husband told me there were 4 Covid cases in our town. It was already worse than that in Atlanta. Of course, we had no idea how much devastation it would wreak, and how long it would last.

Yeah, I use a soft travel bag with a shoulder strap

Never knew why folks took so much stuff when they travel
I don’t start out with much but I always seem to come home with way more than I started.

When I traveled for work I always kept a nylon bag folded flat in the bottom of my wheelie bag to handle the overflow.
