Packing.......bah humbug!

I'm packing my suitcase and carry-on today for my trip to Ohio tomorrow morning, where I'll be babysitting my new great-granddaughter for the next three weeks. I wish I was one of those people who can grab their toothbrush and a change of underwear and take off.

But nooooo....my packing consists of: "Do I want to take that black top? Sure, I'll probably need it. No, wait, I can do without that black top. But what if I NEED a black top...better put it in. No, I don't have room for the black top, take it out." The black top will probably go with me. Then we start on the blue skirt. Will I NEED that blue skirt. Maybe, maybe not. Put it in, take it out, put it in....

One of these days, the plane is going to get to the end of the runway and refuse to take off.....all because of those "black tops" and "blue skirts" I can't do without.

Am I the only one who's a major ninny-livered packer or do other people have that problem?

I'm kind of that way too, jujube. But if I were gonna be taking care of a baby, I definitely wouldn't wear anything black! Or a skirt.

Or heck, probably wouldn't bother with a bra either. The baby won't care, and I'd be terrified to go anywhere with her, so I'd go for comfort and easy wash-and-wear house clothes.

Take two or three decent outfits, for if you go out for dinner. Otherwise, casual/comfy clothes for babysitting. By the way, congratulations on the new great-granddaughter. Enjoy your time with her.

No matter what you pack, you will get there and wish you had packed something else. You'll have your lovely blue skirt, but instead of the blue top that goes with it, you'll have packed the blue T-shirt that says "Work Sucks" across the front. Packing is a no-win thing.

Of course it could be worse -- when I came home from Germany for my father's funeral, Lufthansa lost my luggage completely, so I had absolutely nothing to wear to the funeral except the clothes on my back, so I looked like a female and considerably more rumpled version of Columbo at the funeral.

I can throw a few items into a bag and take off. Have a safe trip Jujube and enjoy your special time with your great granddaughter, she'll love you no matter what you're wearing. :love_heart:

OK, I'm packed. It is what it is. About half the suitcase is baby stuff....I've dug out baby clothes that my mother wore, I wore, my daughter wore and my granddaughter wore. I have my grandmother's china doll and the little wooden chair she got for her first birthday. I have the sterling silver piggy bank, the silver rattle and the silver spoon I got as a baby gift from my uncle. I have my baby ring. I have my daughter's first shoes. FINALLY, I'm going to get to unload this stuff on someone....hooray! But it didn't leave a lot of room for my black top - bah.

Jujube, you sound like me when I'm packing! LOL. Enjoy your time with your new great granddaughter! :)
