Paintings on Black Velvet

When we first got married we had 2 German Shepards. The hubby bought this picture and we had it in our living room of our first home for quite awhile. When we moved it came with us.It now is in our basement because he won't give it up. It's not like we don't have photos of all our pets displayed upstairs. I'm so afraid I will come home from shopping and find it upstairs again. I think it is one of the better ones I've seen but it's time to move on.dog (800x600).jpg

The blue and black cat is kind of cute and the German Shepard is a beautiful dog. I have never been a fan of black velvet paintings. My daughter bought a small one and had it hanging in her living room for about 2 years as a joke. I think it's gone or maybe she just put a cat tree in front of it. I hope it's gone. It was a joke that went on too long.

I think it's simply a matter of personal taste. What surface the artist chooses to paint on doesn't matter, to me, as much as the talent of said artist. That German Shepherd is pretty well done. I chose to do my artwork on living, human skin, for around fifteen years. Many would condemn that, but I tattooed thousands of folks, including a billionaire and an Oscar winning actress.
