Panera Question... Any Recommendations?

I saw at least three of you mentioning Panera in another thread... and since I don't want to hijack that thread, I'm starting a new one. I was just given a $100 Panera gift card and I've never been there. Anyone have a recommendation for food... not a soup person, though... sandwiches, muffins, special drinks, etc... absolutely! 🥪

I'm not wild about Panera for a meal. You're not into soups, but that's about the only thing I like there.

Their sandwiches are really skimpy and the bread seems stale. Never tried any dessert of muffin. Maybe their whole loaf bread is good.

Awhile back they had an Asian bowl thing and that was pretty good!

It's a chain, so maybe my Panera isn't so hot, but yours may be great.

I like their soup in a bread bowl even though it can be messy.
I also like to be able to have the options of half sandwich with soup, or whole sandwich.
They have a good pizza.
The coffee is ok, I like flavored coffee you can fix your way yourself.
Bowls, they have bowls like teriyaki, I think is one.

I think like always, it depends who is managing the particular store.

I think it would be great to have a gift card. That would be a good reason to go. Otherwise, It's not for everyone. DH is not a fan. I like it because its a bit healthier but I don't go often.

Aw pooh. Well okay then, maybe I'll have to try soup after all. :) Do they sell it (if you know) like in larger containers as well as bowls so I could maybe just bring a couple of quarts home for the family?

I love their breads, have never had a problem with it being stale. They make breads these I can't perfect here at home.

I love soup but it can be pricey there. The broccoli cheese is a favorite. I remember when my son was a teen. He could eat a bucket of it. I finally learned to make a homemade version to keep from having to spend the money.

they have good salads i get a half Greek salad with olives and feta etc comes with a chunk of bread and apple
the flatbread pizza and sandwiches i have had good and just ok experiences with . we have bought a family deal comes with 4 half sandwiches / salad / Bagette and soup we get a dinner and lunch next day for spouse and me and the bread we snack on....
there is a mac and cheese that many people like as well.

We've never been to a Panera eatery but buy their bread when grocery shopping. Never opened a stale loaf but maybe they save the stale stuff for the restaurants?

I love Panera. They have really good soups and if the Butternut Squash soup comes back this fall, I'm sooo there.

Salads are good, and BIG. I love their sandwiches and breads and their pastries????? MMMMMMMmmmmm. Mac 'n cheese, oh yes!

Their teas and lemonades are good, too.

I have a warm place in my heart for Panera. The last time I was able to take my mother out of the house just days before she died, at her request we went to Panera. I ordered everything she liked and she was able to have a taste of this and a bite of that and a sip of the other. It was the last time she ever truly was able to enjoy food. Every time I eat there now, I think of her enjoying the food. She really liked good food.

I have never had butternut squash soup. That is one I would like to try!

Kate, if you decide you like it, they’re usually a consistent place to dine. Like McDonald’s, you know what you’re getting.

Maybe I should try them again. I gave up long ago finding the staff absurdly snooty and inattentive, the selection terribly narrow, the prices far too high, and the decor aggressive - like some kind of Swedish hospital esthetic.
