I have papers in bags and in boxes waiting to be sorted through and either shredded, filed or tossed. Some of it is old documents with sensitive information, so of course they'll be shredded. While shredding can actually be fun, I hate filing, so procrastination takes over. I have a friend who is going through the same thing. I decided that it's time to tackle the issue, one day at a time. Do a little each day, or even every couple of days, until it's done.

Are you overwhelmed with paperwork and papers? If so, how do you tackle the problem?

Slowly, very slowly. I hate it but I'm working on it little by little. 😵‍💫

迿 PAPERWORK You'll never be able to avoid it, even if you're reincarnated as a cat.

What happened to the paperless society we were promised years ago?

I don’t get much paper.

All of my regular monthly bills are on autopay, I file the emails into folders when they arrive.

The statements from my bank and brokerage house are available online.

Medical records are available in the doctor’s portal.

I have half a bankers box with 7-10 years worth of income tax returns and purge a few years when the box becomes full.

I would do just as you are doing, grab a bag or folder and deal with the contents a little at a time. If you know where to find the information online toss the hard copy.

When was the last time that you had an urgent need for any of the paper, in my case it’s just about never!

I have a filing cabinet the old painted metal ones - filled with stuff and just the thought of going through it all and culling depresses me deeply - so it don't get done - I think I need a tab to either make me younger or more light hearted? I have bank statements going back to the year dot - useless really one side is totally blank if I had small kids I'd make em a writing pad for free!
