In the video, they make it look easy. When I jumped, we jumped out of a helicopter. I think it was a Huey UH-1N, but I think Bell bought out Huey, but not 100% certain. In a helicopter, we were all squeezed in together. No static line. We had to make sure we had our rip chord in our hand before exiting the chopper. I don’t believe the new chutes use a rip chord anymore. They use a thing that looks like a ball attached to a line and the chute. When the air grabs the ball and pulls it up, the other end attached to the chute opens the cover and the chute is opened. Pretty slick, huh?
