Pardon the Pun, But I'll Pass On This Car

I got the picture, but the video was audio only. From what I saw it looked fun, a 21st century Cushman scooter like meter maids and mailmen would have. The commercials worked though...:cautious:

The ones that I know were strange, a friend had a Meschersmit, it
had a 2-stroke engine and if you wanted reverse, you had to stop
the engine and start it again, in reverse, you can do that with a
2-stroke.

Another friend had an Isetta, I think that it was a BMW, you could
drive them with a motorcycle licence, if it didn't have a reverse gear,
so he fitted a metal plate on to prevent, selecting it.

One evening, a group of us drove to the bar that we used and he
was sitting in his Bubble Car, he couldn't get out because the door
was at the front, not the side and he was too close to the wall, so
we had to push him away from the wall and turn it around so that
he could drive away when he left!

Mike.

I’m ok with it as long as it’s the biggest thing on the road.

Might be good for zipping around Center City or the University area.

These little scooter cars would be a nightmare for me if I had to drive them among the tractor trailers on the interstate.

I wonder how they do in the snow. 🤔
I never liked driving my Camry past those tractor trailers or having them ride next to me. Same when we were in my husband's car and he had a Cadillac. I know I wouldn't want to be surrounded by those big trucks or even passed by one in that little thing. One thing about my Camry though...it maneuvered well in the snow. One afternoon it had snowed so hard that it took me over three hours to get home from one of my offices that usually only took 45 minutes tops. I was passing big cars like Cadillacs and even SUVs that were stuck on the highway. I doubt that little car could handle the snow.

I saw something on the news where the administration is clearing the way to have Japanese style Kei cars built in America.

I wonder if these vehicles could eventually become the American version of Volkswagen beetles, inexpensive vehicles for the great unwashed. 🤔

OMG...they are cute, especially that truck. But I wouldn't want to be on the road with them either.

Having 4 wheels would create a problem in the US.
Kind of like the "Tata Nano", ( a small car that was explicitly designed as an affordable alternative to motorcycles). Back in 2009 these were supposed to sell for $2500, however, having 4 wheels, a problem quickly arose. Besides tariffs;

The Nano lacked essential safety features required in the US, such as crumple zones for crash absorption, airbags, and side-impact protection, anti-lock brakes, and better emissions compliance to meet stricter Western standards, potentially raising the price to $6,000–$8,000. (today that would be $12,080). therefore effectivly pricing it out of it's intended market.
I expect the same problems would arise with any 4 wheeled vehicle trying to enter the US market.

I would try it out, just for the fun of it, don't think I would spend hard earned money on it though.

This on the other hand, I wouldn't want to own it or ride it. Or drive it, or what ever you do with it.

Like most cars that have warnings like fasten seat belts. Did anyone else notice the warning of.

In the event of an accident be prepared to kiss your ass goodbye.

My dad gave me his Beetle when I was about 19 or so. I was the youngest and the only female in the office. Those guys went nuts about how I should sell it and get a bigger car. They were sure it was time to sell me a grave plot. I managed to live through owning it by the skin of my teeth.
