Parents arrested after their 2 boys shot with gun they found under couch

Some more stupid gun owners. Most gun owners know how to lock away their weapons and ammunition (separately of course), so their children can't get to them. But there are also the brain dead ones such as these, who just don't care.
 
It is possible that only one shot was fired and both children were hit by the same round. If the piece was a semi-automatic, I doubt either child could have racked it, which means the weapon was ready to fire. Not sure about that with a revolver.

The photos in the article make me think drugs may also be involved.
 
The owner was a convicted felon in possession of a gun so this was an accident waiting happen it seems.

That being said for any owner kids need to be taught basic gun safety including how to make sure a gun is unloaded and/or how to unload it. And take the kids to the range and just the noise would make some kid think twice about even handling it.
 
Some people don't need to be parents. I hope their children are taken from them and placed in safe, loving homes. I also hope the mother (and father, if found also responsible) is (are) prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Too many of these types of tragic, preventable shootings involving young children getting their hands on guns have taken place.
