Medical police state in the UK unfolds as parents arrested for seeking advanced brain tumor treatment for son
The medical police state is alive and well in the UK, where parents have now been arrested for removing their child from a UK hospital and seeking more advanced medical treatments.

From the Associated Press

Brett and Naghemeh King signaled Monday they would fight extradition, defying doctors and the legal system as a British court considers a ruling on forcing the family to come home... The Kings are seeking a new type of proton beam radiation therapy that typically costs at least $33,000... Ethicists say the case is unprecedented, and has raised questions of how much power authorities should have in interfering with the will of parents in questions of life and death.

Five year old son is by himself in strange hospital in Spain,

parents in Jail in Spain as UK is trying to extradite them back to the UK for punishment

.....how unreal is that, and how terrible for their terminally ill little boy ?

This case was reported in detail on NPR and it does bring to the fore the rights of the state versus those of parents. It made a valid case for both sides but I came down on the side of the parents on this one...

I think that is the way it will work out..
It all started with lack of communication..

Yes, and what a terrible situation for parents to be put in when the life of a child is at stake...

If they had spoken to the hospital, or got in touch from France; this would never have got this far...
i have sympathy with both sides; the police are damned if they do; damned if they don't; this situation now needs an hour of talking, and all would be resolved ..

the police are damned if they do; damned if they don't;

......and that is the crux of the problem Viv............the hospital in my view alongside the police acted in the best interests of the child at the time, at the time the child went missing it was emphasized that the parents had broken no laws and given how ill the child was, that was the main concern.

The medical police state is alive and well in the UK,.........what a load of nonsense.

That is a quote from natural news....not a publication that I find is always neutral, nor accurate, in it's reporting.

Thanks for that Viv.:)

To be honest I only click on links that I am familiar with.

Bee, Natural News is actually a very good website. I used to read it all the time. The guy who runs it focuses on health issues and government policy issues that impact health and freedoms of the citizenry. And his info is generally the 'other' side of the story that mainstream media fails to mention in most instances. The only reason I quit following it regularly was because I got more interested in political issues like Gaza and Ukraine/Russia/America.

No offense Debby but with what Viv had to say about Natural News and this statement they published.......The medical police state is alive and well in the UK........which is a complete load of nonsense, I would rather stick with the reporting that I know and trust.

I thought perhaps it would be, for me it was a matter of faith and trust and not being judgemental to all parties concerned.

Judgemental ?

The parents were taking the child for treatment....?

They are now 500 miles away from the Spanish hospital he is in, and the boy speaks no Spanish...

I'm very judgemental about the police actions that have allowed this to occur !!!

... at the expense of a five year old boy who has four months to live ..

His parents are in Jail and not permitted to be with him.

However, as usual, no one will be held accountable... !

The police were damned if they did and damned if they didn't.

If the parents had got in touch; even from France; or mentioned to the hospital what they were doing, none of this would have happened.

The first concern was the welfare of the little boy, and whether he could be fed.
as it turns out, the parents could, but didn't bother to tell anybody.

His brother says he is receiving great care...and they should be reunited very soon.

What would you be saying if the police hadn't bothered, and the little boy had died?

As usual no one is ever held accountable !

The doctors had almost banned the parents from visiting their child in the UK hospital,

before this all happened, they didn't like their authority to be questioned.

THEY ARE THE PARENTS, DON'T THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO DECIDE WHAT IS BEST FOR THEIR CHILD?

How dare the Government and police make all of those assumptions about what was happening... !

Parents have no rights..?

..and police and Medical people are not responsible!

Ever

The doctors had allowed the parents to take the child out that day.
they had discussed proposed treatments, and had said that the parents could go abroad for treatment, although they didn't recommend it...

I repeat; what if the child had died?

They do; they have offered radiotherapy.

But it is the parents decision...

If they had just said what they were doing....

The parents have now been released and will face no charges. They are expected to be reunited with their youngest child by tomorrow...thank God!!

A Czech clinic has offered proton therapy for Ashya if it could be okayed by his English doctors. A scan is apparently being sent from Spain to the clinic who have said that he can be treated immediately and the money can be sorted out later.
