Parking lots and what bugs me

I do think its better for everybody to have the pickup spots behind the store instead of out front.

Yeah, I totally understand for some people it's very convenient - but at stores near me they take up a LOT of spots!

There are not enough handicapped parking spots either.

Behind the store sounds like a better idea. Most grocery here is a delivery, not a pick up.

I just thick, If you can, you should go inside. :)
 

In NSW parking in a handicapped space without displaying a handicapped permit is a $704 fine.

Sainsbury's, one of our "Big 4" supermarkets, has set up a company
to patrol the "Disabled Parking Bays", in Supermarket car parks, I
have no idea how they work, but I got a letter for parking without
displaying a "Blue Badge", I had forgotten to put it in the window,
but this was in a Tesco Supermarket!

Anyway, the woman who, caught me, told me to send a copy of the
disabled blue badge, I did and the fine was dropped.

I have always said that the Council should patrol the car parks, because,
when they grant Planning Permission, for a new supermarket to be
built, they stipulate the number of disabled parking spaces they have to
have, yet they never check, to see if they are being abused.

Mine, too. I do a Walmart pickup roughly once a month. I detest going into their stores so the PU is a great option.
I do all other grocery & Costco shopping inside the stores.

I also try to find parking spots near a cart corral.

People taking two spaces in a crowded parking lot are begging to have their cars keyed. No, I wouldn't key someone's car, but sure do understand the fury of someone who resorts to that measure.

p.s. Dollars to doughnuts, the owner of a car damaged by someone who was p.o.ed because it was taking up two spaces, avoids revealing that detail when relating the story of their car being keyed... "Can you believe someone keyed my car in XYZ lot? I'm never shopping there again - their customers are the worst!!!"

Wait what? They go there to pick it up?
My mom just gets her groceries delivered at her door for 5 euro or so.
 
The Walmart close to entrance online order pick up parking spots are obviously the result of corporate executive's wise decision to do so in order to encourage online shoppers to do so at their websites, since numbers of such people post COVID-19 online shopping have been continuing to increase.

In any case, generally here in this wealthy urban SFBA, I most often park on the lightly used outskirts of where people have been parking because it is easy to both park and leave. Although a few people may have issues walking, the majority are just using pin-headed thinking wasting time driving around closer to store entrances, hoping to find an open spot, or often waiting for someone they see that is possibly soon leaving to slowly back out, blocking lanes of others.

And for what? So they don't need to walk 100 yards further to the store entrance, as though that is unpleasantly exhausting to do once a week? Are they afraid that exercise will burn through their body fat from those EXTRA LARGE sized potato chip bags and beer cases in their carts? Once in a store, some shopping oriented will of course walk about endlessly since careful price checking and buying items is their sport.

Oh yeah, I am one that tends to bother rolling my cart into if available parking lot cart corrals.

When it first started many years ago the cost was just 20p... so people who were really lazy would still abandon the trolleys in places... so all supermarkets upped the charge to £1... so a £1 coin releases the trolley and no-one want to abandon a trolley with a £1 still in it...

This wealthy Santa Clara County has one of the highest rates of homelessness in the nation. A major problem with retail are the many that roll them out of retail parking lots out onto streets for purposes of moving their stuff, that often become abandoned. Many are dumped into our riparian stream channels creating environmental trash issues. Instead of using an intelligent system like the above, our politicians have been arguing for months on charging retailers fees to support city programs with hired employees dealing with it.

In other words, the politicians are so afraid of homeless advocates that will complain because use of the rolling retail carts is a tool helping homeless people move they junk around. Junk that another city department is regularly screaming about budget overruns because of litter and trash fouling up our cities. Yes, we live in an era often overrun by pin-headed stupidity of those in charge.

as little as £2.50 here to have it delivered dependiing on the time of day.... the trouble with home deliveries is regardless of the note left for the picker when ordereing, it's a lottery as to wheteher you get very fresh food.. or not... so that's the reason..it certainly is with me who hates grocery shopping...to go and do it myself


I do get a delivery very occasionally..like if I'm not well... but also like this last 11 days while the workmen have been here.. I couldn't leave them in an empty house.. so I got a delivery... but even then 4 items were missing...

No..I don't agree. Much as it's extremely annoying , they're no damaging anyones else car so it would be criminal to do it to them...

In Spain last time I was there.. I had sold my car some time before so we got a hire car.

I parked in a bay on the street where the bays were slanted...there was 4 cars , 3 were parked straight on instead of at an angle, I parked at an angle realising that my rear would be sticking out onto another bay if I parked illegally..aka straight on....
I was gone a very short time.. in that time, someone had keyed my car and left an irate note in Spanish telling me to learn how to park! :mad:

I like to shop, but sometimes can't get to a store.
One delivery company I dealt with was always leaving items out, ignoring requests to substitute, and overcharging me.
I've been ordering through a different company and they've been much better, rarely making mistakes although I've received food past expiration date twice and one instance in which they didn't bother putting food in a bag, just left it on hallway floor.

For deliveries I pay $9.99 delivery fee, plus tips.
 
How about people that park in front of an entrance and go into the store?

I was at Best Buy a few weeks ago returning an item, guy gets in line behind me and is huffing and puffing obviously frustrated there were a couple of people ahead of us. When I leave theres a big Lexus SUV parked and running directly in front of the entrance, no one in the car. I figured it was the guy that was behind me in line so waited and sure enough it I was right.

I felt fortunante to have stood so close to such a special person.😉

I wasn't recommending that anyone do it, that they deserved it, or that I would do it. All I'm saying is that by calling such attention to their car they are almost daring certain types (teenage boys, jealous people etc.) to key their car. In other words, I believe parking that way increases their risk of being keyed.

In the uk supermarket grocery delivery drivers are not allowed to accept Tips...

We can get deliveries for free in certain circumstances... but the normal delivery fee is around £3.99.... if we choose a time after 3pm.. it will be cheaper...typically £2.50

if we pay monthly for 12 months it costs £3.99 a month for deliveries any day after 3pm.... or £6.99 per month for anytime deliveries..... for a period of 6 months it's another £1 per month...so it's really good value

The only other issue other than the freshness of the goods.. for me..is the fact that every order has to be over £50..or they add a £5 surcharge......and I often only want a few things....

Tips here are considered essential..
Orders have to be at least $35. or they can't be delivered. Sometimes I need to order an item or two that I really don't need so it reaches the $35. minimum.

We use the pick up option and occasionally the delivery. However, I prefer to go inside and pick my own produce, so the pick up option gets used the most. For me, it's easy. Park on one side of the lot and go inside and get my produce. Then, pull over to the opposite side of the lot and use the pick up.

see $35 us Dollars is approx £26.... half what we need to spend or pay a £5 minimum basket charge ....

No tipping is allowed here the drivers get paid a proper salary just as waiting staff do in restaurants.

This is not a tipping society.. altho' we do tip for good or excellent service to our Hairdressers.. Cab drivers, and waiting staff... but it's not expected... and certainly not mandatory!
