Past Memories of Little Consequence (Why now?)

Tarzan learned the language of the apes that found him and raised him, not just grunts and guttural sounds, but actual words. Yes, in the comics, the apes used actual words, not that I could understand, but I do remember one of the words, "bundolo," which was usually being yelled.

I wasn't thinking about Tarzan at all, but bundolo just popped into my mind today. As I suspected, it can mean "kill," which I finally learned after all these years on the internet. The apes didn't seem to have a large vocabulary. An ape dictionary would probably consist of less than 8 words, at least as far as Edgar Rice Burroughs believed.

When I first moved to Hollywood in '68, Johnny Weissmuller had a nice nutrition store and natural foods lunch counter right on Hollywood Blvd. I ate there a lot, but never saw Johnny. He was such a legend.
When I first heard of Tarzan, I must have gone to the theater to see a movie, but Weissmuller was ancient by that time. He was the Tarzan of my father's childhood. There were a bunch of Tarzans that followed, but I don't remember names.

I remember my father telling me they chose him for the part, because he was medal winning swimmer of some sort.
