Yes he was a great coach with Cleveland but today's talking heads forget that he had a great QB, Otto Graham, who has been ignored when they talk about the great ones.

After the '54 season OG retired. Uncharacteristically, PB all but begged him as a special favor to return for one more year. OG agreed and the result was another Browns championship.

Interesting sidenote: after OG agreed to come back, a youngster who was recently released by Pittsburgh sent a cable requesting a tryout but because PB had his QB for the short term, he told the kid to inquire again next summer. Kid's name was Unitas. But by then, the Colts had gobbled him up.

Fast fwd: the Browns drafted Jim Brown who led the team to a conference title in his rookie season '57 before being demolished by the Lions in the championship game. The Browns came close in the next few years, losing out primarily to the Giants, before winning all the marbles with coach Blanton Collier in '64.

I'm imagining what woulda happened if OG had not agreed to come back and the Browns signed Unitas. Jim Brown and John Unitas in the same backfield. Hmmmm.
