I saw this movie back in 1982 and probably at least once or twice since then. I feel it’s one of Paul Newman’s finest performances. Really good legal thriller. It’s on Netflix instant streaming right now, and worth watching. A real gem.

Having worked in law for over 40 years, I always try to avoid TV shows and movies that supposedly depict "legal drama." They invariably contain a lot of garbage made up by some Hollywood type who knows nothing about legal procedure, courts, and how a lawsuit would actually play out in real life. It's not that they don't have the resources to investigate. It's that they don't care about authenticity. I do. So they don't get my money.

I worked in law firms for a few years myself, and I find movies to be generally accurate, and they do research and investigate things. But it’s entertainment. If you don’t like legal movies, then by all means, you shouldn’t watch them.

That aside, I really liked this movie and recommend it....which is why I posted the thread.

One of my favorite actors, The Verdict - probably is one of his finest, Great choice. Add to that list The Hustler, Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid & Absence of Malice. As for lawyers, court rooms and legal shows, reality is boring. I watch movies for entertainment not realism and expect nothing more. Now 'My Cousin Vinny' is the closet thing to real court room drama as you can get. :)
