Paul Newman quote about the old days

I read this in Newsweek in 2008 (just found the article again this morning). I had been trying to find this quote for years because I love it so much. It stuck in my head for years, especially the part about "grace". I so agree with him. Here it is:

He talked about being lucky for being born with good bone structure. He also said he couldn't watch his older films...he'd cringe at his own acting skills.

But, I read what he wrote in his book and AARP magazine about his affair
while he was married and had a child and my feelings were,
"Wow, He's just like every other cheating, lying, (Well, YOU finish the sentence!)
After I read that, I lost respect for him. He didn't cheat from time to time,
It was constantly, everywhere, all the time!
Kinda wish I hadn't read that.

Not for me to judge rumors but this was from his own writings, his own admittance.
But then, probably a huge percentage of men do that. (women too)

I don't think any generation invented a lot of new sins. We've always had the same old ones, generation after generation. What changes is the fading memory of the harm they did.

If I wrote down all of my actions, I would look like a crazy, sometimes unlikable, sometimes pathetic, but mostly OK person. I've done things I wish I could go back and change. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God-- especially me LOL. It is difficult to have those we admire show their human failings. It hurts. So I understand your sentiments, Gaer!
