I live in an area with loads of immigrants, mostly Russian & Ukrainian. Several of the young men joined our services and after completion I would occasionally get visits from FBI, interviewing me as to their character. A few times I got into conversations afterwards, so this is how I know.Pepper, I did word it wrong. It is a pathway to citizenship.
He didn’t receive a dishonorable discharge. He was given a punitive discharge. I was in the Corps for 30 years. There is a big difference between the two, depending on which punitive discharge he received. There are 2 types of punitive discharges. I’m not in the know as to which one he was given.Funny how the MSM hasn't exposed the real Paul Whelan. What gives? Perhaps they feel that his shady background including a dishonorable discharge from the Marines is irrelevant, but our tax dollars are being used to try to secure his release, so we have a right to know.
Technically, he received a Bad Conduct Discharge, which is not honorable, so that makes it dishonorable without the capitalized 'D'.He didn’t receive a dishonorable discharge. The difference may be important to you, but to most folks, you are either honorably discharge, and thank you for your serve, or you were not, and the differences of "not" just don't matter. He was booted out, less than honorable. End of story. He didn’t receive a dishonorable discharge. He was given a punitive discharge. I was in the Corps for 30 years. Conflicting viewpoints have made things complicated. All Marines who have served the U.S. and are Honorably Discharged are referred to as a Former Marine.
It is proper and respectful to address our Marines this way. It is by no means a derogatory term.
My husband is a Former Marine as were many of the men that I worked with over the years.
Further, serving in any of the armed forces of this country gives you American citizenship.
I'm not an American but I'd heard of it....waaay back.but never heard the 'once a Marine always a Marine' til a few years ago.
I don't throw out the message just because I don't like the messenger. I like to hear different viewpoints - I may learn something. I know I don't know everything.https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/just-the-news/

John F. Solomon is an American journalist who was a contributor to Fox News until late 2020.[1][2][3][4] He was formerly an executive and editor-in-chief at The Washington Times.[5]
Although he won a number of awards (including the 2008 Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award) for his investigative journalism, in recent years he has been accused of magnifying small scandals, creating fake controversy,[6][7][8] and advancing conspiracy theories.[1][3][9] During the Donald Trump presidency, he advanced Trump-friendly stories including questioning reporting that women who had accused Trump of ****** harassment had also sought payments from partisan political donors[10] and questioning the legitimacy of criminal charges against Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort.[11]
He also played an important role in advancing conspiracy theories about unproven allegations of wrongdoing in Ukraine by Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden. Solomon's stories about the Bidens influenced Trump's fruitless attempt to pressure Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy into publicly launching an investigation into the elder Biden, an attempt that led to Trump's first impeachment.[4]
In 2020 he launched the website Just the News.[12]
I just applied for a position overseas for $83K a month in an industry I know nothing about and where I don't speak the language.........I didn't get around to asking about perks yet.
