Pedophilia is a sickness and if you don't have that you may not judge about it

A 20 y o guy in Holland got 5 year prison plus TBS for online sexual abuse of 34 children. That's in the online paper.

Following psychological and psychiatric examination, it appears that the resident of The Hague suffers from, among other things, an autism spectrum disorder and a pedophilic disorder. As a result, he is barely able to resist his urges. Without treatment, the risk of recurrence is assessed as high. The experts therefore recommended TBS (Treatment Order for Mentally Ill Offenders) with compulsory hospitalization. The court adopted this recommendation.

After reading through the article, it doesn't just stem from autism. It also mentions pedophilia, and that last point indeed makes it very difficult to build resilience, because that is simply a disease/addiction. I have already witnessed this in my immediate circle, and it is very difficult to defend yourself against it. Look, if you don't feel this yourself, you can't really judge it.

I cannot with these people. Get castrated then. No wonder they call my country a pedo paradise. I have seen these kind of comments so often. Always with rapists, child rapists or mothers that murder their kids. Oh golly there are only losers in this situation. She must have felt so bad. And if someone has the nerve to say lock them up and they're horrible, they get mad that they are so judgemental and attack this poor victim.

The US penal system castrated convicted pedophiles for a while. They'd have gotten the same result if they'd cut off an ear. Removing a body-part doesn't change their desires. You can no more "cure" a pedo than you can a serial killer. They have to be separated from the rest of society to keep society safe.

This seems to be a topic that keeps popping up all over the news, etc.

Just because something is caused by mental illness, does not mean it's tolerable.

Also agree with Murr "They have to be separated from the rest of society to keep society safe."

Honestly --- if someone is THAT broken, I do NOT believe they can be rehabilitated!! EVER.

From what I read the problem doesn't seem to be lessening..it seems to becoming way more prevalent... the shocking amount of reports in the media.. not just here in the UK but in all the western countries.... and the arrests of so many people with the child images on their computers is absolutely sickening.. and apparently the Epstein problem is only the tip of a very tall icebrg where young childen being abused is concerned...

Teachers, Judges, business people, doctors, nurses.. teenage boys.. .. joe blogs.. fathers..uncles..grandfathers, mothers..even priests..one might say especially priests... .. it's just is absolutely beyond any understanding of a right minded person ...

Online porn, including child-porn, is a multi-billion dollar industry. Clear evidence of its prevalence. That begs the question, have masses of people always had this propensity, and it's only come to light since the invention of the internet?

Maybe we've become a sicker society over the past 50 years due to a genetic anomaly, possibly caused by exposure to some chemical in the air or in food or a common OTC medication. Or maybe because we've drifted away from "Christian values" or the traditional family structure.

In any case, I agree, pedophilia-related crimes have been steadily rising for the past several decades.

yep my thoughts exactly....

Pedophiles are the scum of the earth. There is no cure for this sickness. There shouldn’t be a second chance. Anyone arrested and found guilty of the crime should be sentenced to life without the chance for parole.

then that beggars the question... what would be the point in keeping them alive ?.. IMO they should just be given a lethal injection... put everyone out of their misery!

I say don't bother wasting tax payer money for the next 'X' years of their lives feeding, clothing, and providing them with medical and dental care ?....put the sick SOB's in the general population and let "prison justice" do us all a favor.

yes I agree...
It stcks in the craw that not only do they not get a death penalty, they get cossetted while in prison, because they are housed in with other Molestors..other sex criminals...

If only they were put in GP..as you say... then things might be different.. and they could get their comeuppance there , every day of their sorry lives

That is precisely what I was wondering... has it always been in the dark ugly shadows, and just being caught/noticed more now?

The only thing that holds me back when it comes to things like the "Death Penalty" is where "justice" breaks down ... and the system fails. There are people who are innocent and found guilty - put in jail - and serve many years for a crime they did not commit.

That being said - I always say, if caught in the act - Zero percent chance of them not being guilty .... then Yes, I support the death penalty in those cases.

The huge scandals with priests and Dutch soccer coaches and camp leaders are from before internet, but I think it has exploded with internet and all that porn. And this guy could just contact the kids via a game online. It has become way easier. I Googled for this case and got lots of similar ones.

For instance what we called pencil sellers in a Columbo coat, in the 80s once in a while a weirdo like that was in a train or bus or on the street and now they all send pics.

The kids are online, gaming with friends and an older creep can creep in.

Word gets out- pedo inmates don't last long in general pop.

I have seen sex offender inmates get their throats cut, even in the protective custody prison yards.

We can only guess, right? I'm guessing no.

200 years ago (in the US), people were closer to God, practiced their faith, went to church every Sunday, husbands and wives had traditional roles, and children were treasured. After all, it wasn't uncommon to lose a third to half of them to common illnesses, and your children helped around the farm and took over the family business. And 100 years ago, more and more parents sent their kids to college so they'd have an easier life than their parents did.

In those 2 centuries, 2 of the most notorious pedophiles in America's history were arrested. Whenever they were transported from jail to courthouse and back, they had to be kept under constant police protection because droves of people wanted to kill them. Their crimes genuinely shocked and enraged people, so I don't think pedophilia was common at all back then.
