Penny Marshall has died

I was a big fan. I once saw "Laverne and Shirley" being taped. Lots of other actors/actresses blew their lines and there were some production challenges with staging, etc., but Penny Marshall was a consummate professional throughout. She knew her lines, hit every mark perfectly, was patient, and engaged with the audience between scenes.

Thanks for the laughs in L & S and "The Odd Couple" and for your fine directing in "Big" and "A League of Their Own".

The first movie she directed was'Jumpin Jack Flash' 86 starring Whoopi Goldberg
My 2 favorite movies she directed are "Big'88 starring Tom Hanks and Elizabeth Perkins
"A League of Their Own" '92 with all star cast,Tom Hanks,Geena Davis,Lori Petty,Madonna,Rosie O'Donnell. The true story of the women's baseball league during WWll
Penny is survived by her daughter,Tracy Reiner{ex husband is Rob Reiner},her older sister Ronny and 3 grandchildren
R.I.P Penny you'll be missed

I am surprised she made it to 75. It was painfully obvious that she did not take good care of herself. I was shocked when I saw her on TV, a few years back.

Treeguy its obvious you don't know the reason why Penny looked different a couple yrs ago.
In 2009 she was diagnosed with lung cancer and a brain tumor. In 2013,she announced her cancer was in remission. She also had diabetes Sue

I knew her health background: She smoked like a chimney, and ate herself into obesity. I don't like to speak disrespectfully, here, but you shouldn't make assumptions concerning what others may or may not know.

Your right. She was a Diabetic I, but didn't take good care of herself. It was stated that she died of "complications of diabetes". She said her cancer went into remission, but did it really?

Just like Chuck Connors, The Rifleman. Johnny Crawford said in an interview that, in-between "takes", Chuck was always smoking a cigarette. Amanda Blake, Gunsmoke's "Kitty" smoked like chimney on the set as well.

She was truly one of the entertainment world greats. RIP, Penny
