There is one politician on it, John Sununu. The former governor of New Hampshire and White House Chief of Staff for the first Bush. Apparently his 180 IQ wasn't enough to keep him from abusing his travel expenses and losing his White House job. Intelligent is not always wise... or honest.
Maybe the good ones are too smart to get involved in that lifestyle.

I do not think the people are to stupid for democracy to flourish. I think democracy in it's true form cannot exist because of the lust of some for power and money. One washes the hands of the other.

Democratic elections have little to do with great philosophical ideals. It's pretty much which candidate voters either like , or detest. Getting elected does not translate into being a good officer holder, or keep one from being totally inept. I love the US Constitution, It states what the elected office is, i.e. President, Senator, Congressman, etc., then the very next line is how to get rid of the SOB. Our founding fathers were realists. Democracy doesn't need smarts. Somebody has to be a Senator, and if he turns out to be a turkey, there's always the next election But I do believe educating citizens about the value of their vote, and of voting should be well taught in schools.
